Revenge of the Creature last night,  and Abbot and Costello Meet Frankenstein with lunch today.

Lazarus

Werewolf of London to close out the day.   I'm gonna run out of things to watch from this box set in a week at this rate!

I liked the bit where the one old lady throat punched the other old lady to sell the werewolf a room first.

You do realize you can watch them more than once?  ;D

Lazarus

Creature Walks Among Us to finish out the trilogy.

I feel so bad for him.   They attacked him in his home.  Took him to another continent  and made him a lab rat.   Vilified him when he made his escape.   Multilated him with fire.  Ruined him so he could never go home.

Frankenstein had it bad.   I think the Creature had it worse.

The Mummy(1931)
"They come from the bowels of hell; a transformed race of walking dead. Zombies, guided by a master plan for complete domination of the Earth."

Phanom of the Opera (Claude Rains) last night.

I thought it was just okay.  Great set work, some lovely shots.  I especially love the shot of him sitting in the dark listening to Christine's singing.

I didn't like that it seems like the whole thing happens in the span of a week, and the weird comedy bits with the 2 suitors.  I thought the guy that played the Opera singer was a very good actor though.  Very expressive.  And apparently that's actually them singing?  Which is nice.

Claude Rains wasn't really the man for the job here.  He's too small.

Same opera sets from the 1925 film.

That was Nelson Eddy, who's whole career was in musicals, especially partnered with Jeanette MacDonald.

Susanna Foster was a singer, too. She had a short career (best known for PHANTOM), mostly in musicals, or playing a singer.

I knew the opera set was the same.  But I wasn't sure if all the shots up in the rigging were part of the original set up.  That was a very nice and authentic looking part of the set, and the massive cistern area that they barely use before it all falls down was nice also.

I totally agree Lazarus. I'm not sure why some people dislike CWAU. I like it a lot. This may get me in trouble with the Creech mafia (Mike is the Don ;) ), but it's my second fav Creech film.

It's a lot of people's 2nd favorite. Nothin' wrong with that!  :)

I'm not sure if I liked it more than Revenge or not.  Probably.  I didn't like the mutating because it didn't really make sense.  I'd have preferred he learned more and they had to deal with underestimating him.

At least the lady in this one had a story that was compelling.   And you didn't have to feel bad about the casualties at the end because they were both jerks.  Honestly the only male character I like in the Creature movies is the Captain of the Rita.  Everyone else is so BLAND.
