The Invisible Woman (1940)

Funny stuff, and what a cast!

Any film that can boast John Barrymore and Margeret Hammelton is guaranteed to be enjoyable.
Listen to them. Children of the Night. What music they make!

Memphremagog

The Cat and the Canary(1927)
The Mummy's Hand(1940)..both last night.
DARK SHADOWS:

David Collins: "Dead people dont just get up and walk around.."

Sarah Collins: "Sometimes they do."

Last night I watched The Wolf Man. Tonight I am going to watch Son of Dracula, Ghost of Frankenstein, and The Mummy's Tomb.
Listen to them. Children of the Night. What music they make!

Me and my kids (10 year-old boy, 4-year old girl) watched House of Frankenstein, House of Dracula, and Return of the Vampire this weekend, while working on Revell's reissues of the Dracula and Wolfman kits. Yeah, I know "Return" doesn't quite count as a Universal flick...but it should!

Return of the Vampire does not count as a Universal monster film because it was not produced and released by Universal, but it is a classic none the less. I actually have never seen that film. I do enjoy Mark of the Vampire a lot, and consider that to be a classic non-Universal monster movie.
Listen to them. Children of the Night. What music they make!

Return of the Vampire is a surprisingly intelligent film, with some rather deep subtext that the Universal Horror films had lost by that time. The World War II London setting helps move the plot along, but also serves as a snapshot of the times. Something Universal never did in their fairy-tale-like European towns.

I discovered Return of the Vampire on vhs back in '88' and it is still one of my favs, great to see Bela as a vampire again....even if it wasn't Dracula....wink....wink! ;)  We all know it was!
