Frankie?

Oh, I think you mean from last months offerings, if you do then I feel the same as you, it was an expensive month last month but I know it'll be more than worth it.

Nope, I meant Frankenstein from Monster Squad. I figured Frankie was going to be the last in the Monster Squad line.

I am curious to see Monster Squad Creature as well. Because once a character like that is tackled, it opens the door to characters like these seeing the light of day. Ooooohhh yeaaaah! 8)

I see thm. I was surprised to hear that there are more coming from The Monster Squad, not so much that DD are making them but more that it didn't show any others in the series on the back artwork in the same way I've grown accustom to on releases in the past. I noticed this also with the latest Evil Dead range and thought at first that these were going to be just single figures from these films.

I can definitely see the appeal of this series as they are so closely linked to the original Universal Monsters but as Monster Squad is not a film that was a big part of my growing up I passed on the initial release of Dracula. I think this is going to make a great set once they're all released and I know there are going to be some very happy people out there like I was with the Fright Night series which as well as being a  big film for me growing up, it was also the wave that first got me into collecting these DD figures. The collector in me really wants to pick up this Monster Squad wave as I know it's going to look stunning all put together but I feel I have to draw the financial line somewhere with my collecting habits and go for the releases that the films hold a special place for me in my heart. It's going to be hard to resist when the Creature or Frankenstein drops but I must be strong!

Can't wait to see to see these next releases and I'm sure I won't be able to resist at least one of them.

I have a pretty good theory on this. I kind of even asked Martin about it, but he hasn't given me a "yes" or "no" as to the train of my thoughts. Hear me out.

When a line is in the planning stages, and character choices are made: there is usually a lot of excitement among the creative parties involved. If the line isn't met with as much excitement as was anticipated with the release of the first figure in a wave: then there are these little circles promoting figures that never were made.

Emce messed up, in advertising Nurse Chapel and Vina on their retro Star Trek mego line. They were never produced. Spectre Toys showcased Josette and Quentin on their Dark Shadows card art. Yet they were never put into production for purchase either. These were fairly recognizable pop culture properties also. Not B movie monsters a lot of foks have never heard of.

I suspect Martin has some lines that weren't met with as much excitement as they should have been in the past. Karloff line comes to mind. Yet the little pictures were already advertising figures. So---even at a potential loss--Martin released them. Because we were told they were forthcoming.

The easiest way is to no longer advertise future figures in the wave in little circles. What if Monster Squad's initial character had been a bust? If Martin advertised 5 figures comprising a wave, he would have to follow through as to not disappoint us. Or say "Sorry, the sales were terrible.....so I won't be releasing Character X in the wave after all.

I am still annoyed Vina and Chapel and Josette and Quentin never were made available for purchase, lol.  So if it avoids the let down, I am ok with it.

My other thought is this: some folks will buy one character out of a wave and no others. The little circles could be bothersome for folks with extreme OCD who think they have to buy them all. I know folks who bought Monster on Campus, and that was the only figure in the Science Gone Wrong wave they bothered with.

Ditching the circles kind of is the best of both worlds for all parties involved. If a "Without Warning" figure is eventually sculpted and released, I know I would rather it be a stand alone card art. Rather than have little circles from films I have no interest in collecting being on the card art.

Of course, I could be completely wrong on all counts too, lol. Happy Thanksgiving! Gobble Gobble. :blank:

YOU are never wrong, my friend. I think we've all come to accept that. Happy Thanksgiving, everybody! >:( chain_saw chain_saw chain_saw

Happy Thanksgiving to all as well and it does make sense with all you've said Anton......still doesn't help me constantly thinking about this Monster Squad run though but I really must resist (the Evil Dead run I have is just as nice for me and there's still the Romero Dead collection to come!).

Remember--Evil Dead 2 and Evil Dead 1 are two different waves also.  Who needs circles when the owner of DD pops in to keep us updated anyway, lol?

Please don't scare me any more Anton, I can be a completest at times so your Evil Dead 1&2 comment makes me nervous

Mentioning completest though I think there's one figure from the Romero Dead series that I could pass on as there's a limit to how gruesome I can take with my figures before they become a bit too much for me to own. It's the one thing that has held me back from the odd release but I really can't stop coming back for more of the DD releases. I discovered them late in the day but have managed to put together a fairly big collection of them a feel satisfied with all the earlier releases I managed to pick up along the way. I think I now have all the ones I want that have been released so far and do enjoy seeing them on display.

You're right again Anton about there not being such a need for other releases being printed on the back of the artwork, the good people on here always keep us up to speed thankfully.

Ian---I was serious about Evil Dead 1 and 2 being 2 separate waves, bro. I think Martin said he planned 5 figures for the first film. I dunno how many for the second film. But they are each their own series.
