Just got the very sad word that Linda Miller ("King Kong Escapes") has to cancel her appearance due to health issues. She explains herself in this thoughtful letter to her fans.

Holy Cow!  This really upsets me to write this to all you KKE fans.  Unfortunately I will not be attending the Mad Monster Party in Rock Hill SC this weekend due to illness.  I got sick the end of last week and had a rough weekend but thought "FOR SURE" I would be okay for this weekend.  I had my bags already packed, snacks ready for the car ride down to SC, and was so very, very excited about seeing all of you again.  But then yesterday I had a relapse and had no choice but to decide to stay home.  My heart is willing to go but my body just won't cooperate.  (Actually you may want to thank me for not infecting all of you - my doctor says I'm still contagious.)  But whether I'm there or not, I know you're going to have an awesome time and hope you'll all come out and support the convention.  If you have a chance, thank the promoter for inviting me to attend in the first place.  I will continue to see you on the fan page, and we'll keep you posted on any new events.  Signing out for now, Lt. Hopefully, this will be the last of the celebrity cancellations. This time of year is getting very bad for colds and other types of viruses.

Our dear Bin Furuya was stricken with a terrible flu at the Airport on his way here to be with us. We're sorry to say he won't be able to join us this weekend. Here's a message from his agent to his concerned fans:

Dear Mad Monster customers: 

I am the North American agent for the Japanese guests. I'm very sorry to have to report that Ultraman actor Bin Furuya became very ill yesterday at Narita Airport, on his way to the USA for the show this weekend.  He had even posted to Facebook that he was at the airport and looking forward to seeing his American friends, just an hour prior to becoming sick which caused him to miss his departing flight.  He has since been diagnosed with a contagious stomach virus and is not being allowed to fly. 

In light of Haruo Nakajima and then Linda Miller having to cancel their appearances due to illness, this additional cancellation is not only especially difficult for all of the fans who are traveling to meet the Japanese actors, but also for the organizers of Mad Monster Party who have invested a significant amount of time, money and promotion in these guests only to have an unfortunate situation occur that is entirely out of their control.  In all the years that I've been managing convention guests, it is unprecedented for us to have three guest cancellations due to illness.  Please know that organizer Eben McGarr has done everything within his power to accommodate the overseas actors, including offering to pay additional costs for last-minute flight changes or on-site medical care.  He has gone way above and beyond what is expected from any convetion promoter, just for the sake of his valued customers.

Godzilla and Super Sentai actor Tsutomu Kitagawa has arrived in South Carolina and is looking forward to seeing everyone this weekend, even though his friends and colleagues can not be here and are dearly missed.  If anyone has any questions or needs additional information regarding the Japanese actors, please send a message directly to me.

Another Mad Monster Party Scarolinas has passed, but Mad Monster Arizona is just two months away. Meanwhile, the clock resets for Mad Monster Party 2018!
