Just watched IFM. Wow! It looks and sounds great! A really amazing restoration job! Still looks like Cinecolor, of course, but I wasn't expecting 3-Strip Technicolor.

They even restored the original trailer, which is hardly ever done. The featurette with Landis, Dante, R. Skotak and Scott MacQueen was good. The rest of the extras . . .eh! No Commentary!

I would have loved a full-length commentary by the likes of Tom Weaver's crew with details about the actor's careers, box office history and in-depth musical critique.  A real missed opportunity.

(The cover graphics and poster are identical for both 4K and BLU-Ray.  They don't even mention what version is inside.  I guess that saved having to print two versions.  (I never saw a pin.  Must have thrown them away.)

Oh, I thought it might be a repro of the movie one-sheet. Don't much care for the box art. It looks like they're in a swamp.

I too just watched Invaders From Mars.  EXCELLENT!  One of my all time favorite movies.  The restoration team did wonders with it.  In some scenes of the sandpit you can see individual grains of sand!  So much of an improvement over the previous Image entertainment DVD.

Yes, would have been great to have an audio commentary, and it should have been done by Dennis Skotak who has done extensive work on the history of the film.  The extras are entertaining.  The European scenes are also restored, and I would have liked if they had included both the USA version and the European cut of the film, instead of just including those scenes as bonuses.  But all in all an excellent bluray.

I know that some people on this site have been waiting a LONG time for this one (as it has jumped a few formats!).

Shout says extras are still being prepared and will be announced later.

I've always liked this little movie.  Very atmospheric and ambiguous about which direction it is headed.  Best viewed if you know nothing about it beforehand.

I don't believe that the bluray will be a bluray/DVD combo.  I know the Kickstarter campaign had them as separate preorders - a bluray and if you don't have a bluray player, you could get a DVD.  Both will have the film in 3d anaglyph and 2d.

I must have misunderstood the Digital Bits announcement - Thanks.

So, you won't need a 3D Blu-ray player, just red and blue glasses?

Sweet. I had it on VHS in the '90s with the glasses. Will be interesting to see it on blu-ray on my '65" tv, lol.

[Imprint] is going to release Republic's "The Catman of Paris" in May. This is only the second Republic horror feature DVD/BD release. Olive Films released "The Vampire's Ghost" in 2017. Hope it's not another 5 years till the next one!
