Tarantula is easily one of the best mutated bug/monster films, right up there with Them!, IMHO.

Universal Steve

I like Tombunga the tree monster  from the movie "From Hell It Came"  It is one of my non-Universal guilty pleasures. But we can't leave out Murder Legere from White Zombie or The Devil Bat either.

Hey, I think no one has mentioned - The Black Cat - 1934.

Others on my list: (No sequels or re-makes)

The Old Dark House
The Man From Planet X
IT Came From Outer Space
The day the Earth Stood Still
Them!
Tarantula
Target Earth
Invaders From Mars
The Monolith Monsters
The Monster of Piedras Blancas
The Deadly Mantis
The Blob
The Thing From Another World
The Monster That Challenged the World
Earth Vs. the Flying Saucers

I saw all but 3 of the above on the big screen when they were brand new!  I still remember the days I first saw most of them.  (I ducked behind the seat in front of me when IT came out of the cave - I think it was the music that really freaked me.)  I like a few of the re-makes, but none as much as the originals.

There are so many others that I like and own, but I pared the list down to movies I would be in the mood to see almost anytime at all.
