Here's a good picture of the fabulous Pixies Monster Horrosscope:

It's not recommended for creeping old adults.

It's a twist to advance the image device. It's therefore like a mini View-Master but with only a single built in reel of images.

Would have never guessed from looking at it.

They were popular novelty devices around sixty years ago because they provided a discreet way to take furtive peeks at pictures of naked women.

When I was about nine I found one on the street like this one below that featured a model with impressively large breasts topped with huge red areola. (Hey! That's exactly what I remember about the picture.)

Phillip G. who was about my age asked me whether the picture was of some kind of monster when I let him have a look! (He clearly led a very sheltered life.) It was all quite the giggle in the schoolyard until an older boy came along and I made the mistake of letting him have a peek. He said "Ohhhhh, I'm telling Mrs. Sullivan!" and walked off in the direction of the playground supervisor with my prize find. I was terrified and thought I was in deep trouble. The older kid had of course simply taken the viewer for himself.

You should have told Mrs. Sullivan he had it and was showing it to other kids.

Yeah! Mrs. Sullivan was a no-nonsense middle aged woman with flaming red hair. She would have marched right over to him and demanded that he hand it over. Then she would have grilled him on where he got it. He of course would have to say that he found it himself because admitting that he stole it from a younger boy would have confounded his crime and got him a trip to the principal's office (either Sister Elizabeth Ann or Sister Eileen Marie at the time). He would probably have escaped with a stern warning from Mrs. Sullivan that if he was ever caught with such a viewer again not only would he be sent to the principal's office but his parents would be informed. Not a threat any kid took lightly back in 1961.

But as a kid that course of action didn't occur to me. I just thought I'd be in deep trouble if any teacher learned I had such a viewer.

What does it do? How does it work?

I have one of those I got it at thrift store about 12 years ago for a couple of bucks. It was in a plastic bag with a few other toys. It doesn't have the packaging, though. I have it packed away right now and haven't looked at it in years, but if I remember correctly it kind of works like a kaleidoscope. It has multiple little slides with weird  brightly colored monsters on them (similar to the ones on the package) and when you turn the dial it combines multiple slides to create different weird monsters, so there's lots of combinations you might get.

Here are scans of the Skywald Nightmare magazines from my collection:

The Skywalds have much more graphic covers than do the Warren mags but in general the artwork in the Skywalds is almost on par with that in the Warren mags.

Not so much a fun game, just interesting graphics. Thus game is part of my collection.
