I just consider us lucky to even still get new Uni-Monster stuff. My kids laugh at my collection and consider the movies "old and boring"
You can laugh at them as they chase imaginary Pokémon characters on their cellphones.

So do I, and I'm a kid! Sort of!
I can't imagine a more boring existence than that of a cell phone zombie which most kids have become.

As most people age they separate from the herd and find their own path. Some of us left the herd early... we're called Monsterkids, and we're the antithesis of "boring".

I don't care if these look like Karloff, because they sure don't look the same!

No they don't. The figure looks better than the bank bust here.

Anton Phibes

I didnt even buy those banks because the Monster looked so..... warped. If that even makes any sense, lol.

Mord

The figure is a prototype. They retooled the head and hands to make the banks. It happen with many DST figures...the finished product never looked as good as the advance photos. Either way, these never got produced so it's a moot point.

the_horror_man

They do look different. The bank looks nothing like Karloff. ;D

I have seen those 1/4 or 1/3 or whatever scale Star Wars, Batman, etc. large figures for $25-$30. If they can do that, why not a 1/4 scale Frankenstein for $75?

BTW, those banks sure don't look to be quarter scale in size.

That one failed at wholesale, but was actually solicited. DST repurposed the head and hand sculpts into their vinyl bank, which is why the Frankie bank doesn't hold up to the rest.

I'm very excited by the Mezco line b&w, color, possible diorama, and I'd dig a GID too!
Here's the original post by someone in the know.

Wish we had at least one accurate Glenn Strange Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein figure.

Glenn Strange looked nothing like Karloff...Dammit, I can't stop!!!  See what you guys did!

Monster Bob

I would rather have a so-so Strange, than just another bleh Karloff.

There aren't enough of us to make it profitable. They only way to keep the price down is to mass produced these. Unfortunately,  the customers are no longer there for the classic monsters. The 18"ers would have been a huge smash in the sixties. They would have sold for seven bucks and would have been advertised in Famous Monsters and Monsterworld.

DST/EMCE did a so so Strange Monster in their Mego line. The problem, once again,  is that the finished product looked inferior to the prototypes.

The 18"ers are a huge smash in any decade if the recipient can handle it.  :o ;D
