Prayers to the Monster Gods have been answered!  We now have a Mezco color version of the Monster available for pre-order! http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=MEZ11077&mode=retail

Thanks for the link, ordered one the other day and now I'm just hoping that the green looks better in the flesh. As I mentioned elsewhere I'll have to keep him in the shadows if it ends up being to bright (not that that's a bad place for him to be!).

What a way to ruin a great sculpt with this crappy green paint job. I'm definitely going for the black and white version.

"This PREVIEWS exclusive version is in full color, recreating the make-up scheme of Karloff as accurately as possible."  By the looks of the color picture, Mezco is way off base. When is anyone going to accurately do a bluish-gray Monster for once?

Palifan

It does look pretty green to me looking at the vid clip but I've also ordered a B&W version just in case (thanks guys for making me doubt the color version ).

The one thing I thought about with getting one in color is that if they end up making more of these from the Universal range I would definitely want them in color as a B&W Creature or Wolfman probably wouldn't work for me and it would be nice to keep the group of them in the same color range.

I completely agree,  Ian. The video was from "Son of  Frankenstein "  eight  years later. I think the make up changed from the one described in the 1931 film. Either way, the pictures of the sold out black and white version look a lot better than the color ones. I do the exact same thing.  I buy the entire collection in color, and add the best looking black and white ones to the set.

IF I buy these (IF being the operative word) they will all have to match, lol. My primary worry here is that we won't get a Dracula at all...or that we will get one that looks like DST's.  I have a feeling that if they make a Wolfman they will nail it, just like they have with Frankie. So, at least thats one worry put to bed.

I cannot help but think that Frankenstein was always green. If I am wrong, honestly....who cares, lol? But Pierce did the make up for all of them. His ocd was bigger than anyone here. I cannot believe he would change hues from feature to feature without there being a distinct reason for it. With the notable exception of flame torched skin in bride. But there's a reason there, as I mentioned.

The primary reason for the Wolfman's changes over the years from film to film  was there was nothing distinctive about him from film to film except his nose and mouth. All that burned yak hair from feature to feature (from what I hear) was fresh. No pre-made head wigs just laying about the dressing room like they had in the 60's 70's flicks.

Im gonna go with Frankie was green. One things for sure; He wasnt monochromatic. Only the film was. Thats why I always go color. 8) ;)

Mord

You may be right, Anton. That still doesn't change the fact that the black and white one looks much better in the pictures. If the actual color figure looks like the pictures, I would be very disappointed to be stuck with that version.  I wouldn't worry about Dracula,  this line seems dedicated to getting it right.

One can never have TOO many Frankenstein"s Monster.
But at $80.00, that seems excessive even for a premium
figure. Just my opinion. I'll stick to my collection of Sideshow figures.

Me, too.

$80 just seems like too much.

I think that "color" Frankie is just a pee poor quickie photoshopped thing. Fingers crossed for the "real deal". What I am wondering is are the grimacing face and extra arms black and white...making the figure the best of both worlds?

I was wondering the exact same thing.  I would love it if that were the case. Win, win,

I would imagine that it's all going to be in color but it would be amazing if it was B&W and also if the color gets released before the B&W version I can always cancel my B&W order.

Be careful, Ian, the black and white version is sold out on the Mezco website. Nothing is a sure thing yet. A combo of color with black and white parts would be stellar.  Executive Replicas did that with their Night of the Living Dead 12" zombie figure. They included 2 color heads (different expressions) and 2 black and white heads (plus an extra pair of black and white hands). Really great idea  ( and figure).

I remember that particular figure. ( ....and may still have the figure in storage) The Cemetery Ghoul/Zombie.
