One more--this is the version of the Dracula ring that Richard Sheffield has sold at the Bash the last year or two.  He says it's more accurate--not sure what is more accurate, but it's a beautiful casting, no argument there.

After reading this thread, I am determined to get one of those QMx rings.  It looks like the closest thing to the real thing to me.

Hello, monster kids. I just signed up here, and started looking around. Back in the mid 90's I too saw the ad for the Chaney and the Mummy ring, and only having the funds available for one of them, ordered the Mummy. After a VERY long wait, including a bunch of letters and calls to an "assistant", I wound up getting my scarab.

It came with some strands of Karloff's original wrapping glued in the underside, as well as a certificate of authenticity, signed by Forry, Ron Borst and another individual, possibly a lawyer, I would have to check.

By the way, the new OMx Dracula rings are very well done. They are much heavier and better detailed than the old Dimensional Design rings that were sold back in the 90's.

Wow! So cool that you put the ring on a replica of a mummy hand!

Jane and I both have those cool Phantom skull rings.

Robert, Terry offered to give you his wedding ring in exchange for that Chaney "spider" ring. I'll do better than that. I'll offer you Jane!  ;)

I have a question about the Frankenstein ring? What's it made out of?seeing it it looks like it was carved out of wood?

I had to go look at my photo again---you're right, it DOES look like a wood carving!  lol   But nope, it's heavy silver.  Just my bad lighting to blame for the "wood color" there!

Now pardon me a minute while I check with Max's wife Jane and see if she knows he's selling her for a spider ring!  BONK!  (That was the sound of a skillet hitting a severed head)

Hey AmityHorror. Thanks for posting those pics. Very interesting ring. Could you tell me more about it please? Where was is it originally advertised at? FM magazine? What issue? And what of the alleged wrapping particles? The pic is a bit hard to decipher. Is the wrapping particles part of the ring itself? And is it a one for one repro of the actual Mummy ring? And finally, how much were these rings offered for $ ? Inquiring minds need to know. Thanks!

Glad to be of service...I found the  Mummy ring, along with the Chaney spider ring, advertised in Chiller Theatre Magazine, I'll do some digging tonight and  scan and post the ad for you. It was definitely the mid 90's, because Forry was at the Chiller convention, and supposedly had a couple of these for sale with him. I found the ad while leafing through the magazine on the ride home, and entered into a loooong waiting period...which was most worth the wait! The ring itself is a full size, wearable reproduction of the Karloff scarab, although there are a couple of very slight differences noticeable from the 1932 stills so I think it must have been sculpted and not cast from the original. I think I paid $275 for it. The wrappings are actually a couple of linen threads that look like they were epoxied into the hollow underside of the scarab. I will also scan and post the certificate that came with it, as well as some better pictures.
By the way, a couple of years ago there were some cool Universal licensed items, like the Dracula candlestick, and a miniature Talbot manor made available. The only one I snagged was the box to the Scroll of Thoth...which makes for a great display for the Mummy ring...

I'll do some more homework on the ring later tonight and keep you posted.

This is a picture of Richard Sheffield's ring that Robert photo'd on the left, Forry's Dracula ring on Forry's finger in the center, and on the right a QmX ring.

All due respect to Richard Sheffield...  the one he has been selling is a nice looking ring, but....

Bobby. I also own the Sheffield ring. It is nice, but as you've pointed out, the differences are hard to overlook. First of all, the Sheffield ring is purported to have been cast from the Abbott and Costello Meet Frank ring. That is not the same ring as is the ring in the 1931 movie Dracula. Right? And another big difference is the price. $75.00 vs $250.00.

What was the QmX ring cast from? Is it a sculpt, or an actual cast from one of the rings? For $250.00, I would expect it to be an exact cast from one of the original rings and not a sculpture of any kind.

The QmX ring is a cast of Forry's ring.  The wear areas and everything are reproduced exactly.

The ring Forry owns was once owned by Richard Sheffield, who gave it to Forry.  I believe the ring was used in House of Dracula as well as A&C Meet Frankenstein.  All are the same ring.  Sheffield took a cast of it before he gave it to Forry, I believe.
