Memph, thanks for that MILL OF STONE WOMEN poster.

That film occupies a special place in my earliest film histories, although I didn't see it for another ten years.  The ads, though, seem to last forever in whatever papers or fanzines I was latching onto. 

I'd already seen THE GORGON and one of those Harryhausen films with a gorgon battling in it... (Is that CLASH OF TITANS with Harry Hamlin?  Well... never mind...)

Back in childhood times, for our driving vacations to Scotland or into Ireland, every time I saw some advert for mills or heard someone talk about the village's mill, I would pester Father to drive there.  At least past it.  Just to see... if there were any stone women.  Or even guys.  I wouldn't have cared.  Even a few stone monsters would have been great.  But no...

This is of course one of the many embarrassing tales Father and Mother relate to my own children.  My punishment seems eternal at times... Father and Mother never forget those moments.

There was some mill, long closed with large concrete buttresses, that Father chased me out of, claiming he'd seen one of them move.  These were half-wheels, buried along a walkway, seemingly a hundred feet high (to a 10 year old) and we went running back to the auto, screaming the whole way.   Mother, after starting the car in a semi-fright after seeing her husband and daughter racing towards her, screaming, then heard the tale (wink wink) from Father and sat there, in the lot. "Let's wait and see them rise up, the whole way - I bet I can outrace them."  No wonder I grew up depraved.  Of course, they did let me spend 2 years in the greenhouse, trying to perfect my Professor-Cavor Memorial Moonship (er, a refrigerator's giant cardboard shipping box).
