I just like the idea that they fit right in a monster room décor, alert me of potential problems, and give a gentle reminder to the kids without me having to be the bad guy and constantly tell them "no".

(The fact that they are dirt cheap ain't so bad, either.)

Went to 3 Dollar Tree stores without finding the crows.  They did have a little brown owl, but it sounded awful.  I ordered a case of 36 crows online.

CVS pharmacy had a lot of the dog, cat, rat and raven skeletons that are being made by Crazy Bonez.  They are selling them under the CVS "Spooky Village" label.  I really liked the 8" tall raven - bought one.  There didn't seem to be much else to recommend.

Saw a witch mask latex appliance by Rubies in a generic Halloween store.  There were two on the peg.  The one on top looked great, the other one was shriveled and bunched up looking.  All I can say is, if you see these appliances and want to get one, DON'T BUY THEM THROUGH THE MAIL.  These need to be seen in person before purchasing.  Quality varies greatly.

The local Walmart Food Store claw machine sold out of all the Toy Factory Universal monster plushes.  Now they are stocking monsters from a company called Sugar Loaf.  I saw many Frankensteins and a couple of Mummys on a previous trip.  My last trip, most of those were gone.  Looks like someone is grabbing them as soon as they restock.

Here is a sample of the Frankenstein, taken from an eBay auction (maybe by the same guy that is winning all those toys.)

I sure wouldn't buy one off eBay - but maybe they would be worth the 50¢ chance from a claw machine to one of you.

How do you know if a skeleton is a Raven? Could just be a Crow. ;)

That's what the CVS store shelf label said.  Actually, the product tag just identifies him as "Tweety Bonez".

Oh...  And they don't like having their picture taken.

Birds don't have all those finger-like bones in their wings and tail.

None of their skeletons are accurate.  Dogs and cats don't have boney ears.

I still think Tweety is cute.

You mean to tell me those aren't real skeletons?

Did you know that Poe had considered using a parrot as the bird in the poem?

aura of foreboding

That's definitely a raven's beak.  Crows' beaks are much slimmer.
