The Cemetery - A New Board At The UMA

We have created a new forum at the UMA called The Cemetery.  The Cemetery is for obituary and tribute threads to those who have passed on.  They could be movie stars or family members, all go to rest here.  Over time, it will become necessary to archive some of our older posts.  "Archive" does not mean remove, it just means move to a different forum where we can still read and enjoy them.  The Cemetery is a place for us to always remember those who have passed on, so they don't get lost among everything else.  I tried to move all of the obituary and tribute threads to The Cemetery, but it's possible that I missed some.  If you are aware of a thread that didn't make the move, please let me know so I can include it.

You are still welcomed to start threads about those who have passed on in this forum, and they will be moved to The Cemetery after a time.  You are still welcomed to post in threads in The Cemetery, or start new ones there too.  Please don't start any threads other than obituary or tribute threads in The Cemetery though, or they will be moved.

I've just visited the "Cemetary", this is a great tribute idea to remember those who have departed.  As you stated Bobby, this way they don't ever become lost.  Very thoughtful.

On average, just over 152,000 people die every day on Earth.  And about 200,000 are born.

I was reading about that today.  Sometimes it seems like we lose a lot of people, but then we have a lot, so it would follow...

BARON TIMOTHEUS BGG

Dear Brother, BOBBY,
... A Grand Idea, ladened with convenience! This board keeps a-growing, and, what, with new threads, all the time, it's thoughtful, to provide this easily accessible Haven, for our beloved Dead.
... VAN JOHNSON, still, is knocking on our Haven's Door... {SEE BELOW}

Yes good Baron, I know Van Johnson's tribute is still kicking around in here, although he has passed on.  I was thinking it would be nice to let him be a topic of general discussion for a bit before putting him in the ground.

I'm still very fuzzy on this new board and new thread kind of thing.  How do I find an obit?  I see Van Johnson and BEtty Page in the general discussion but how do I find more?

Look just below the General Discussion banner at the top of the main page for General Discussion.  You will see the link to The Cemetery forum underneath it.  Also, you can access it directly from the main UMA forum index page by clicking on it's link, which is underneath the General Discussion main forum link.  The Cemetery is a subforum of this forum.

After a few days have passed, death notice threads will be moved to The Cemetery from General Discussion, or they may be started in The Cemetary if someone wishes to do so.  A thread moving to The Cemetery does not mean discussion in it cannot or should not continue.

BARON TIMOTHEUS BGG

BROTHER JOHN,
... Delighted, to see word, from your esteemed Self, added to our MONSTER-ous Merriement!
THE CEMETERY is listed, atop, the DISCUSSION Page.
... Browsing a bit, through ye olde threads, I found a couple, to bring, to your attention, BR'ER BOBBY:

... Too,mayhap, the JACK PIERCE {Walk of Fame STAR} thread, BELA, BORIS, LON, Et cetera, B'Day/Death-Day Remembrances, of which PROF. ANTON/JOSEPH FOTINOS' writing is so very eloquent and poignant, richly deserve, to be consolidated, into THE CEMETERY, so, that, they can be called up, and, continued, with convenient addition, by any & all, as the years roll, onward.
... Again, Good Work! Thank you, for the on-going effort, and, Capital Improvements, to make the UMA a more enlightening place, in Cyber-Space!

I considered some of those Baron, and I'm not sure what is most appropriate.

Certainly Jack Pierce's star is a tribute to his life, but I'm not sure it belongs in a cemetery setting.

Vampira Benefit Show was an event, and again, I was reluctant to heap soil upon it.

Although Meek is no longer with us, her birthday should not be sent to the grave.  Just as the birthdays of many others who are dead but not forgotten continue to be noted...  so shall Meek's day of birth be celebrated in that spirit.

That is my thinking on the topic, however The Cemetery can be re-named something else, and be put to a larger purpose should that be deemed desirable.  When I started going through threads, I felt restricted by the name "Cemetery".  That restriction felt like a good bar to go by...  (does this belong in a cemetery?) but the options are endless.  I like the ideas you bring up, and anyone who has an opinion on this should please air it, either in this thread, or you can PM me if you would prefer.  The Cemetery is for members, as is the board.  Any and all comments and suggestions are welcome.

Jscareshock

Gang,  thank you for the help.  After i posted I took a minute to look over the site and saw the icon staring me in the face.  I should say I was red faced at that.  Duh on me.

Toy Ranch

No worries.  You've never had a reason to look there before!
