This is why I think the solids are new as well because they are shown with the clear colored ones here on ebay

Are people getting '60s $$$ for these?

the clear color ones and the solid color ones can be had for cheeps.   unless its creature from the black lagoon, he is so rare and I don't think they re poped him, since I never see him EVER.

I finally got the elusive pink neon wolfman PUPPET HEAD.   Yay

Yes all tiny teeny weenie just an inch pencil toppers.    You just never see a Creature Lagoon one.    Or that Metaluna Mutant that went on ebay for ....

I gather that only some of the pencil toppers are erasers, correct? Other pencil toppers are hard plastic, are they not?

Meanwhile, the finger puppets are always hard plastic and they're larger than the pencil toppers. Is that also correct?

And both the pencil toppers and finger puppets were sold from vending machines at various times from the late sixties to the eighties. But the vintage hard plastic ones all had paint on them. The hard plastic ones that aren't painted are more recent repops/reissues (from the nineties?) sold to collectors. Is my understanding accurate?

???
Collecting! It's what I do!

Correct. This pic shows the size difference.

I think that's basically right. Someone can correct it if it isn't.

I would have to do some digging to see which ones I have in plain color, no paint, 1960s, but I know they did the small pencil toppers in: Frank (dark green), Wolfman (brown), and King Kong (black). I think I may have a couple in a pewterish silver color. Not many plain colors, genuinely from the 1960s,  to my recollection, anyway. The few colors I mention above were abundantly made, but genuine old examples were/are scarce and a bit of a challenge to find.

Wow Monster Bob, now you have given me something ELSE to look for, the original tiny toppers in their original colors.

Frank in Green and so on.    That Metaluna Mutant shown on this thread (ebay 168.00) is the pewterish you speak of.    On the close up pics on that listing, there are little speckles of sparkle.

No wonder it went so high, it was an original.
There was an original KONG tiny pencil topper on ebay for 12.00 BIN.    Seller says from his childhood in the 1960's.   Must be one of the originals you talked about.

Count Zero

We have all seen examples of the painted pencil toppers on vending cards.
Does anyone have any gumball header card examples that show the "90s rubber" or "plain plastic" monster pencil topper charms?
