Thanks for that tip, by the way.  Yet another portal that has me pondering how many other useful ones I might find, if only I thought to look.

We're pondering a stream-only world - which is how we more or less live now with our DVDs, and those don't require subscriber fees or even an urban-jungle world of cable-modem ISPs.

But we do wonder about the long-promised "a la carte" channel selections (which the Cable Industry talked about in the late '90s when 'going digital' was first discussed in the USA.  But we decided we still wouldn't be happy with merely selecting our handful of interesting channels (18?  22?) because most of those also have overnight infomercials, too, which we abhor.  Why should we pay for those channels ALSO for a time when they're not giving us any entertainment?  We should not!  But the solution is, "Stream only those programs we want."

Or buy the DVD boxsets, which we do.

Your discussion of CouchTuner, however, brings up the "how else would we know without watching?" impact, though.  Some of my favorite shows are pretty dull in only the first few episodes - it's not until Season 2 or even 3 before they really pick up.

CouchTuner and its cohorts might be the almost-perfect solution to testing the water, so to speak.

I'll try to tolerate ASH VS EVIL DEAD.  I've tried to, with the films, but I find far better uses of humor, writing and acting in other films.  I'll see if this new crew for the TV series benefits from hindsight.

THe Ash VS Evil Dead first 40 Minute Episode was great, if you like the first Evil Dead Movies you will love this, Bruce Campell is the main star, Directed by Sam Ramni, plenty of bloody action gore and its pretty funny, comes on every Saturday for 8 more 30 minute episodes. So if you get Starz on cable be sure and watch it. 9/10 Score.

I thought the premier episode was awesome. I will definitely be watching the series.

Very much like the first 2 movies 😈

Watched the first episode, what a blast.  The only problem I have is they are saying Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness never happened and yet the whole shows aesthetic feels more like it is set in those universes than in the original Evil Dead's.  I don't know why they didn't just let Evil Dead be a standalone and link this to the sequels?

the_horror_man

I really liked both episodes. One of my new favorites. ;D

If you are a fan of the Ashley J. Williams character and the type of humor from the films then this show is incredible! I've already watched episode one 3 times and the second episode was pretty darn good. Sam Raimi has stated recently in an interview recently that, although the 2nd and third movies aren't being referenced, Ash very much experienced and has the memories of the events in those films. I've been waiting forever for this to be made and unlike most things of this sort, it does not let down.

BTW, Bruce Campbell played Ronal Reagan on this week's episode of "Fargo". Great, violent episode (though he looked more like Mitt Romney).

My what a creepy Demon! These episodes are always over too soon!

I have Dish and one of the stations aired the first two episodes Saturday night. It was ... ok. It was more in the vein of the two sequels where the comedic elements are played up rather than the original film. There's also a bit of My Name Is Bruce in the mix. I'll pass on further episodes unless there's nothing else on worth watching.

Now that it has premiered ... WOW anyone else on board?!

I think it's... GROOVY;D Yeah, I'm really digging it. Funny, foul mouthed, and silly gore, all elements of the originals that I enjoy and still adding elements that don't seem out of line for the story. Really happy they've pulled it off.
Shannon aka monsieurmonkey on UMA Y!

Dish Network is having a Starz free preview (not sure if other providers are doing likewise) this weekend so now is your chance to check out Ash Vs. Evil Dead if you don't normally get the channel; You can download episodes 1-9 On Demand and have 29 days to watch them.

Saw that and recorded all 10 episodes of the first season as they were doing a marathon along with the premier of the seasons final episode. Very cool!

Quite a first season... need more shows like this...a treat!
