Scary Monsters Scare-Cards (Druktenis, 1993-1995)

Seems like I got a couple of those. They must still be in the mags.

Scary Monsters Card Set (Druktenis, 199?) is a 9 card set limited to 1,000 numbered sets. The fronts feature B&W photos of classic Aurora Monster Models (and a certification card) and the backs form a picture puzzle of the Aurora "Big Frankie" Model. Small but cool set.

Here are three Creepy Classics promo cards by Good Stuff Cards. Also in the scan are my Trading Card Treats which Mike already posted. Since I'm too lazy to go back and re-crop the pic and re-upload to Photobucket I'll just post 'em again.  The Creepy Classics promos are probably a bit scarce by now and I thought some card geek may want to see them (I know I would if I didn't have them).

BTW, I just ordered the two Hammer Horror sets by Strictly Ink (2008,2010) from some UK seller. I'll be posting those in a few days after their flight across the pond (and boy, will Chris Lee's wings be tired).  thrhrt  :D

Yeah, I don't think I've ever seen them.

In 1991 Topps produced an Addams Family trading card set based on the movie. The set has 99 cards and 11 stickers. The backs of the stickers form a picture puzzle. The Addams Family movies are alright but I don't think they measure up to the original TV show. Likewise, I think this card set falls short of the original '60s set.

Quote from: horrorhunter on August 10, 2014, 06:52:12 PMTopps' Shock Theater is a fun trading card set featuring photos from Hammer films bordered in bright red on the front, with joke captions. The backs have Shocking Laffs and a description of the front picture. The US test set came out in 1975 and has two #17 cards and no # 47 card. The UK set, Shock Theatre, came out in 1976 and has two #47 cards and no #17 card. It is believed this was done to sell more cards since kids would think they didn't have a full set. The UK set has 50 cards, and the US test set has 51 cards.

They are indeed fun cards! They're right up there in my top five favourite monster card sets. I'm not entirely convinced that the error was deliberate on Topps' part though since one would therefore have expected to find such "errors" more often. It could have just been good old-fashioned bungling. Hanlon's Razor dictates that one should "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity."

Here are scans of some of my 1975 U.S. Shock Theater cards:

Here are scans of some of my 1976 U.K. Shock Theatre cards plus the wrapper:

The Shock Theatre set shares some of the same images as the U.S. Shock Theater set but the captions are substantially different.

According to the examples here, most of the captions are the same.

Hmmmmm. Well on this page we have four cards that are basically the same, two with the same image but different captions and three cards that are completely different. Nine cards isn't really a statistically representative sample though. I seem to remember a more pronounced difference between the two sets but I'd have to compare the two sets sheet by sheet.
