Naschy flicks are always cool.  8)

That Crimson Blu-ray should ship anytime. It streets today. Amazon says mine is "preparing for shipment", and the funds left my bank a couple of days ago. Crimson is one of the weaker Naschy films, but any Naschy Blu-ray with extras is certainly welcome. We've been deluged with Franco Blus of late (no complaints), and we're in a Naschy Blu drought. This gives me hope for more.

The Devil's Possessed and, especially, Hunchback Of The Morgue, are begging for the deluxe Blu-ray w/extras treatment, along with SEVERAL other Naschy films. We can only hope that a company like Severin gets the license for these Naschy gems and gives them rock star Blu-ray releases. The extras for the new Severin Blu release of Doctor Butcher, M.D. are mind numbing! Hopefully we'll eventually get our Naschys all Blued and blinged out;)

Wolfman

Jack the Giant Killer to be released in July according to Amazon. I believe this had been released previously, but since I never picked it up, I'll definitely grab this one. Don't think it's Blu-ray though, so that's a little disappointing.

I don't even know what to make of that. Don't want the wrong movie showing up in the mail.

My Crimson BD arrived today through Amazon.

Naschy fans can only hope this will be the first of several good Blu-ray releases of classic Naschy movies with nice special features. I'm really hoping for good releases of the films BCI/Deimos never got to... The Hunchback Of The Morgue, Dr. Jekyll And The Werewolf, Night Of The Howling Beast, The Beast And The Magic Sword, Howl Of The Devil, and several others.

Please give a review of this film. I am curious.

Here ya go:

Crimson, The Color Of Blood (1973) (aka Crimson, aka The Man With The Severed Head)

I had seen this before when I tracked down the Image DVD from their EuroShock Collection, and I thought it was pretty weak compared to Naschy classics like Werewolf Shadow and Horror Rises From The Tomb. When I watched the Blu-ray last night I watched the French version with the English subs then the English version with the commentary track. Well, it kind of grows on you. I still think it's one of Naschy's weaker films, but it went up a notch after seeing it in successive viewings. This is a Crime film with the added fantastic element of a partial brain transplant which works but leaves the recipient sporadically possessed by the previous owner of the brain chunks. Since the two in question are rival small-time gang leaders it leads to an interesting situation. Many Eurocult regulars are in attendance including Naschy, Silvia Solar, Olivier Mathot, and Victor Israel. The commentary by Richard Harland Smith is very good as he touches on not only this film and each of the actors involved, but also the whole gamut of Eurocult which he defines as any European genre film from the 1950s through the 1980s. Nice BD, and valuable commentary to bring one up to speed on Eurocult in general.

Great deal on that Dark Sky TCM DVD set, geez!

Man, a lot of DVD/BDs are getting blown out cheap now, but down the road these same items will be sought after by collectors and probably command some decent prices. It kind of reminds me of all the '70s monster comics that showed up in quarter boxes back in the '70s/'80s. Those same books started bringing big bucks 20 years later. I believe it will be a similar situation with many of these DVD/BDs in a decade or two. Discs are on the way out what with all the streaming and cloud storage. These items will be highly sought after in a few years. Buy 'em now and hang on to 'em.  ;)
