Yeah, The Playgirls And The Vampire is fun. It's certainly no classic, but it's okay. The good points are that this film has it's place in Eurohorror history and I love the whole early Eurohorror feel, the castle setting lends cool gothic atmosphere, and the girls are pretty. The bad points are slow story, goofy English dub, and too much Walter Brandi. It's a shame that an actor with presence wasn't cast in the dual role of the Count and the vampire. Christopher Lee would have been fantastic. I don't know how a guy like Walter Brandi got cast as the lead in so many Italian horror films. I would like to see the original Italian language version with English subs, I think it would help. Anyway, it's a good addition to the collection. I try to get all of the Image Euro Shock Collection DVDs I can.

Got these today. When I checked the tracking and saw that the carrier was UPS I expected the worst. But, to my surprise Amazon shipped these in a BOX with 4 corners (instead of those fold-over corrugated things) and it was well packed to prevent the DVD/BD cases from slamming around. Everything arrived undamaged. The Frankenstein Created Woman BD even had the collector cards (which were left out of my Dracula Prince Of Darkness BD). As huge as Amazon is I don't understand why they can't always ship properly like this. My DVD/BD binge is nearly complete, so soon I can stop sweating these shipments. It's a shame collectors have to dread what damage might be inflicted on things they order. I'm happy to get some of these movies updated in my video library. It's worth the money and hassle.

I want to get that Kino "Faust"! It's on my want list, but I just haven't plucked it, yet.

I'll review that BD release when I get around to it. My "to watch" stack is still pretty high.

I checked DVD Drive-In and couldn't find the review there (which is surprising). Anyway, I did locate what looks like a pretty good review for the Faust BD from Kino: http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/69794/faust-1926/

Horrorhunter, nice score. Slaughter Hotel and Blood Sucking Freaks, two films with bite.

Thanks, mars.

I already had a burned copy of the Slaughter Hotel disc that I bought from a b-legger at a con, but I wanted the proper release because I'm a big Rosalba Neri fan, and this film is a hot showcase for her charms. "nudge, nudge... wink, wink... a nudge is as good as a wink to a blind bat" and all that...   >:D

I had the DVD for Bloodsucking Freaks but the Blu-ray is the most complete version so far. I can't help loving that inappropriate, politically incorrect, piece of cinematic trash.  ;D  Maybe that's why I love it so much.. it's just so wrong:laugh:  Even the BD case is weird. It's a sickening shade of green:P  Sardu and Ralphus are LMAO funny.

Last year I bought the bluray (greenray) disc from the Troma Table at a
Horror Convention. Lloyd Kaufman signed my bluray/DVD combo. Always a pleasure when Lloyd is present. Very nice and personable.
Bloodsucking Freaks is a great, weird film.

Btw.....the special features are hilarious. One in particular, very funny.

Got this today.

As most of us do, I have these Hammer movies on DVD, but they are important enough to get the best available. There are no special features apart from the trailers and extra language and subtitle choices, but they look gorgeous.

The packaging is a cardboard holder with separate sleeves for each disc and a slipcase. This packaging is way too tight and makes it very hard to get to the discs safely. I removed my discs and put them in separate Blu-ray cases. If I had it to do over I would have just paid a little more and bought them all separately to start with.
