They look like an incarnation of Holmes and Watson.

Is it a version of "The Hound of the Baskervilles" that I either haven't seen or don't recall?

No, MIke was a bit closer in his comment..certainly not Holmes and Watson. ;)

These two guys arent even the main attraction in this film, that honor goes to two other particular gentlemen.
