You mean King Moderator? Sounds enticing. Depends though. How much does the gig pay?

They're OOP and pricey. I didn't check Amazon, but here is a link to a evilBay auction that hasn't hit the stratosphere yet.

I have very mixed feelings about this. It's good to go back to the roots but what happens when people are tired of talking about the things they have talked about a 1,000 times? I myself have asked questions before and instead of getting active replies have gotten just directed to the topic that has already been covered. not to say thats not ok but it lacks interaction. And unfortunately there's not a ton of monster stuff that is new to keep conversations new so where does that leave us? I really considered UMA a giant family. I want to know how they are doing. Now granted there was some out of control threads lately but I think limiting our topics kinda takes you out of the comfort zone. Just my thoughts
It's all about the Horror.

So it looks like this will be the line up.

Army Announcements
Induction Center
Vintage Monster Toys
Modern Monster Toys
Monster Kits
Masks and Busts
Memorable Memorabilia
Classic Monster Movies
Modern Monster Movies
Monster Television
Shows and Events
Monsters for Sale
Monsters Wanted

My suggestions for other topic areas.

Monster Kid Memories - for nostalgia related threads about monsters, Halloween threads for current and past costumes and house decorations, threads on how we got started on collecting monsters, etc.
Vintage Science Fiction Toys - for all spacemen, robots, ray-guns, aliens, etc.
Modern Science Fiction Toys - for continuations of the above topic into the modern era to include new Godzillas, Aliens franchise, Predator, etc.
Vintage Prehistoric Toys - For all dinosaur and Pleistocene animals related threads.
Modern Prehistoric Toys - for continuations of the above topic for cool new toys related to our favorite saurians and wooly creatures.

Generally sci-fi toys and dinosaurs are not considered monsters threads including such would muddy the vintage and modern monsters threads. Halloween and memory threads would also cause placement issues as to where to put photos including masks but that may also be just makeup or decorations and to have its own area would help to avoid cluttering up the masks section, the vintage toys section, and the memorable memorabilia section. Memories of former monster kids that visited this forum could also be included there such as threads about unknown primate or the cemetery for deceased stars of monster film and screen.

For the science fiction toys and prehistoric toys sections they would need to be limited in scope to correlate to the mission statement of the forum and for dinophiles, alien friends, and robonuts to get more there may be links to other appropriate forums to satisfy more of those wants.

I stood up for a moment blinking after reading 26 pages about all this. Whoa.
I understand where some of this is actually coming from; while everyone appreciates a birthday nod, I had to scroll for pages just to find different type of thread in members only area one day, which is precisely when I stopped looking at members only.
I suppose it won't affect me much as I mostly cruise the new and old monster toys areas, but I would be dismayed if general-topic-type-technically-off-topic-but-obviously-related stuff like Halloween decorations isn't included somewhere. Where does one start a general werewolf discussion now? Or are we just supposed to talk about Lon Chaney Jr. only?

I really like Ghost's suggestions quoted above and feel that sci-fi, dinosaurs, aliens, etc. go right along with monster collectors but deserve their own topic rather than be lumped in with Universal Monster stuff.
I absolutely think we should have:
1. a Halloween themed topic for decorations, costumes, events,  etc.
2.generic monsters category (non UM) Harryhausen stuff comes to mind, other good monster miscellaneous such as witches, ghouls, skeletons, ghosts, zombies, monster hot rods etc.
3. Monster kid memories for people to shoot the bull and reminisce about this theater or that where they saw whatever or this store that had the coolest displays and they bought their first monster whatever or met so-and-so monster greats
4. Monsters of myth, legend, ancient culture, modern crypotzoology
5. Monster literature and origins
6. spooky pop culture (could be a catch all for many types of previous difficult to categorize threads) something for ghost stories, cemeteries, jokes, candy, songs, dark rides, haunted house attractions,  board games, greeting cards, etc any random creepy thing that may not be UM monster specific but is clearly thematically related

The only real reason I come/came to this site, is to enjoy and discuss all things monsters. So I support this decision by the powers that be. I do however, sympathize with those who developed web buddies and personal relationships that transcended monsters. Sorry that you guys are bent out of shape or might be leaving because of recent events, but more actual focus and less random is needed here.

If it's a movie, one of the movie threads. If its a toy, one of the toy threads. Doesn't matter if it's Universal, or Paul Naschy (or Mego, or Sideshow).

If it is a discussion of the concept of a mythical creature but is not a movie or toy?

Have we ever had such a discussion? I'm sure something could be figured out. Could probably be a sub of the literature catagory?
