Thank you.  I should love a potato.

...and perhaps a cigar: they're my only weakness...... 8).  No offense meant to anyone. Just an attempt to alleviate some of the seriousness and somberness of the thread. We can all still pm one another if we like. Not to mention those of us who have met in person may continue to do so. No moderators required there I should think.

We shall drink to our partnership.  Do you like gin?  ;)

This is really what it's all about.  This is why I come to the UMA and have been coming here for years.  We speak a language that is unknown to most the rest of the world, a language that does not have to cease simply because some sections are getting thinned out.

Considering how active some of these non-monster posts are, I have trouble understanding why removing non-monster posts is considered a good idea.  How hard is it to ignore them, if you have no interest in them?  Have there been that many complaints about non-monster posts, that this was considered necessary for the health of UMA?

What he said. What happened to the simple exercise of free will? Just don't click on threads in which you have no interest. It seems quite the simple solution to implementing Bobby's fortune cookie life philosophy, n'est ce pas?
We're all here because we're not all there.

I just think of some of the wonderful convos I've had in the non-monster sections with various members. I contribute to the monster sections when something there interests me, or when I have news that I think will interest the UMA in general. But, in the non-monster sections, sometimes those topics were my favorites, because I couldn't believe anyone else on here would like those things, too. It was one-stop messaging! The fact that other boards out there exist to discuss those other topics wasn't the point. It was that others (even if it was just a handful of folks) already here also liked the same thing. That's where the feeling of true community comes from on the UMA, for me. And, I just hate the idea that it could get lost in the reshuffling of the deck.

Very sound logic and common sense .. Alas, that doesn't always get one far in this universe.

QuoteWelcome to Universal Monster Army. UMA is an online community dedicated to classic horror films and the pop culture that surrounds them.

So it looks like this will be the line up.

Army Announcements
Induction Center
Vintage Monster Toys
Modern Monster Toys
Monster Kits
Masks and Busts
Memorable Memorabilia
Classic Monster Movies
Modern Monster Movies
Monster Television
Shows and Events
Monsters for Sale
Monsters Wanted

My suggestions for other topic areas.

Monster Kid Memories - for nostalgia related threads about monsters, Halloween threads for current and past costumes and house decorations, threads on how we got started on collecting monsters, etc.
Vintage Science Fiction Toys - for all spacemen, robots, ray-guns, aliens, etc.
Modern Science Fiction Toys - for continuations of the above topic into the modern era to include new Godzillas, Aliens franchise, Predator, etc.
Vintage Prehistoric Toys - For all dinosaur and Pleistocene animals related threads.
Modern Prehistoric Toys - for continuations of the above topic for cool new toys related to our favorite saurians and wooly creatures.

Generally sci-fi toys and dinosaurs are not considered monsters threads including such would muddy the vintage and modern monsters threads. Halloween and memory threads would also cause placement issues as to where to put photos including masks but that may also be just makeup or decorations and to have its own area would help to avoid cluttering up the masks section, the vintage toys section, and the memorable memorabilia section. Memories of former monster kids that visited this forum could also be included there such as threads about unknown primate or the cemetery for deceased stars of monster film and screen.

For the science fiction toys and prehistoric toys sections they would need to be limited in scope to correlate to the mission statement of the forum and for dinophiles, alien friends, and robonuts to get more there may be links to other appropriate forums to satisfy more of those wants.

They'll be adding a Monster Literature section, too. It will cover classic horror, modern horror, and comics/graphic novels. AND limericks!

The "Monster" sections have always been for horror, sci-fi and fantasy films and toys. If they're not being posted there, they should be. The description could be changed to make that clearer, I suppose.

>Over the years, there has been a lot of off topic post. some I would enjoy and some I would only read. Some members gave me a glimpse into their lives with some of their posts. it made me feel I knew them even though we have never met. I considered some of them I posted with a lot friends. Everyone here has been great and kind and respectful to me and that was always appreciated especially when I had my heart attack.<

Bless you, Steve. I think that's ironclad proof that:

1. Such topics are worthy.
2. Monsterkids as a species are quite capable of handling such real issues.

Horror Literature is temporarily a sub-forum of Memorable Memorabilia. It will become a regular forum after we finish graphics and all for it.  We usually have all these things done before we make them public. There will be a little more public construction this time around.

Please be aware that when the forums go away, just because you will not be able to see some of your favorite monster threads for a while does NOT mean they have been deleted. It just means they have been moved to the construction zone and will come back after they are ready. There are threads in Gen Disc and it's sub-forums that will move to active forums or be made read-only in the Gen Disc forum after it has been re-done some.
