Dinosaur threads are good candidates for salvage. Here is one I started:

I'm sure there are many more. You can't get much more Monsterkid than toy dinosaurs.  :)

Honestly I've wondered why they're was a general AND member only form, kinda redundant

I've always thought that the Members Only forum was for the sort of topics that were personal, which one didn't desire the world to see but didn't mind their trusted co-posters  reading but I could be incorrect in that assumption.

Why did I start birthday threads in Member's only?  I don't know, it just seemed like the thing to do ..  :o

Do we need birthday and holiday threads?  I don't know.  Do I need to start them?  Not really.

I'll see how things 'shake down' and go or not go from there.

I like dinosaurs too.  Especially the ones on the covers of 'Star Spangled War Stories' ..  ;D

And I am sure you know better than I do.  Quote my entire remark, because it was merely a thought process, not a declaration.  I'll rephrase: maybe someone will think the changes are about an initial goal of building a monster collection.  I did not and do not say that that is what I think.  And building a collection is a wonderful thing, not a bad thing.
It seems to me one might construe that you are taking a supposition personally.  It was not intended as such, and though I've been accused of hurling insults, I've never done that.  Have you?

No, I was just speaking rhetorically and making a point about mincing words.

I agree. I also think Hep's comic thread should be saved and moved to Memorable Memorabilia. Even though many of the comics posted didn't technically feature monsters enough of them did to warrant saving the thread. Besides, all vintage comics go hand in hand with being a Monsterkid. The ads alone are enough for a solid link.  ;)

Now comes the painful process of trying to consider what exactly can qualify.  The Munster Koach, appeals to fans of the Munsters, and people who like custom cars.  Does this mean it would be wrong to post pictures of "The Black Beauty", or even the "Batmobile", because neither have been involved in a horror movie?  What about things from Star Wars? I realize the idea was to simplify the jobs for the moderators, but I don't envy the moderators new task of trying to decide exactly what can be posted in a forum that is now declared to be limiting it's self to monsters exclusively.

Truth on both counts.

Well, I don't mince words, which I would have expected you to be well aware of.  And a veiled insult is still an insult.

Well AHD, I wasn't making a veiled insult. I used the same words you did.

"What I wrote was "...one might..."  not "I think" or "I thought"."

I thought that you were saying you thought that, and you pointed out that you didn't.

Now you think that I am insulting you in a veiled manner, and I am pointing out that I'm not.  And actually I don't feel that way about you at all, but I was making a point and I hope that you understand the point I was making now.

The "member only" forum is not searchable on the internet. Only logged in members can read it, and it's not indexed into search engines. The original reason for it was if people wanted to share artwork or other things that they didn't want popping up in Google Images, etc. but didn't mind being semi-public among the registered membership here.  It was asked for, and so we did it.

No, I don't understand what your point might be.  You used some of my words, not the same words.  I did not use the word "dick".  I'm glad, though, that you "don't feel that way about [me] at all".

My point is, that you said something, and I responded to it. Then you said that you weren't saying it's your opinion, you were saying that "one might" think that.

Then I used the exact same terminology, and you took it to mean that I was saying it's my opinion. Which it's not, and I was only showing you why I reacted as I did. You were kind enough to react exactly the same way to the same circumstance, thus demonstrating why you got the reaction from me that you did, as you gave me back the same reaction, even after the "one might" part had been identified, or "minced" by you.

Granted, I made it a bit more sensational than you did, however what you said read to me as an accusation that we are running some sort of toy harvest racket here, and that is a long ways from reality. Like if reality were in New York City, the accusation would be in Australia.  Other side of the world.

I don't believe I can explain it any better than that, so if it still doesn't make sense, just understand that I wasn't calling you a name, and I don't think of you that way.

No longer amused by excoriating this particular equine, I will now move on in search of a still breathing beast.

(See you in the other threads!)

For some reason that above sentence made me think of this scene from 'Black Beauty' .. poor Ginger.

I am sorry if you think I had suggested you were running a "toy harvest racket".  That however is perplexing 'cause you certainly paid for the things you bought from me.

Universal Steve

Just wanted to put in my 2 cents. I am still without a computer and doing this on a I pad. so please bear with me. Terry himself drafted me back in the Yahoo days because of my site. I am all about the classic  Universal Monsters. Over the years, there has been a lot of off topic post. some I would enjoy and some I would only read. Some members gave me a glimpse into their lives with some of their posts. it made me feel I knew them even though we have never met. I considered some of them I posted with a lot friends. Everyone here has been great and kind and respectful to me and that was always appreciated especially when I had my heart attack. I never had a problem with anyone. even though I like to know birthdays and if someone is ill or has passed on the main purpose of the forum is the Universal Monsters hence the name Universal Monster Army. I can see the moderators point. I would still like to see the UMA as one big family as it always has been. I hope no one leaves and maybe if someone has something personal to share with some members, it could be done through PM.
