Toy Ranch

Allhallowsday if you knew much about the forum or its history or origins you would never have thought that.  At least for the mods and admins it has not been a big collection builder.  And there was little or no trading the first 3 years. And Terry started it after he had mostly stopped collecting.  So no.

I was trying to help clarify something. Jumping Jesus on a pogo stick, that's all. I've read all the posts in here, so I do have a basic grasp of what's going on! I'm tired of walking on eggshells, so I'm going to do us both a favor and block you. That way, I don't somehow start the UMA Crimean War by simply replying to a post.
Edit: It seems blocking is no longer an option. Guess I'll have to get used to eggshells.

How can you clarify MY post which you don't understand? It is clear that you have no idea what I was saying to someone else or what my words meant. Stop twisting my words and meanings .. did your *$%(% misquote of my post get you the attention that you crave? Misquote and misunderstand someone else .. the egg is on your face.

How about Halloween-related things that aren't strictly monster-related:  I was thinking of all the "cute" Halloween decorations, costumes, noisemakers, candy boxes decorated with trick-or-treaters, etc.  Think they might be included under the general heading of "Halloween" or "Monster Night"?

I know a kid in a pink bunny costume on Halloween isn't really intentionally horror-themed, but they ARE pretty horrible.

There were a couple of general Halloween threads in Non-Monster Toys that were moved into Vintage Monster Toys already. Yes, that is on-topic.  The Pink Bunny Halloween Costume Appreciation Thread is not.

Bravo, I am all for it.
I lost interest in the site and completely stopped posting due to the amount of non monster related topics that i felt should have been discussed on a different site.
it made no sense to me when i or someone would post a comment about a monster related toy or movie and get little to no feedback or interest back, yet a completely off the wall topic would get pages of discussion.
Thank you moderators for making this tough decision.
I look forward to the change.

That's the primary reason for it, Frankenstein73!

We misfits are socially awkward a lot of the time, and we admins and mods are ill equipped to deal with all of the extra-curricular stuff that goes on. Not only that, we most certainly don't want to. The people who play on the pity of others to get free stuff, making up imaginary circumstances. The people who have real circumstances and come to the UMA to find support for them from others who can't handle their own that well.

Some of us are who we are online. Others of us are who we want to be, or who we want others to think we are. If you are a trusting, honest person coming here to vent your feelings or find camaraderie that's great, but you are sometimes doing that as a sheep among some wolves (and I'm not talking about admins and mods here). There are going to be some really bad consequences if this continues on it's present track. We don't know what those are, and don't want to find out.

And even still, there are other major reasons that we cannot and don't need to go into.

Leave, stay, whatever you decide to do is up to you. If you were coming to the UMA for reasons other than monsters, and don't want to be here if it's just about monsters, you probably are best off leaving. We will miss you and it pains all of us to see that happen, but we do hope that it leads to changes in your life that are positive. If you decide to stay and talk about monsters, great!  Let's have some monster fun together!

You have made this same point, over and over and over for years on this forum.

I have personally lost out on $2000 - $3000 in sales, have put my mother off a bit on helping her as she recovers from surgery, and have missed time with family and friends JUST to address this single issue at the UMA, because I care.  Seriously, don't need any more lectures about "what it's about".

Wait a  minute, are you actually saying that "monsters" are more important than your family?  Time to reassess your life, Bro.  I've heard of various addictions, but never "Little Plastic Toy Addiction".

I can't speak for anyone else, but it's the reason I am here.  (That and my love of monsters in general.)

Sad, huh?

No. But I'm not surprised that someone jumped on that to make assumptions about my life. In fact, after I posted that I kinda sighed knowing that was coming.

I do have "little plastic toy addiction" as do many of us here. I'm OCD as all get-out and little plastic toy addiction is a (relatively) healthy way to channel that.  And I continually re-assess my life and have decided this is a good thing for it.

Like any other addiction (s). There is most definitely a : Little Plastic Toy Addiction.  Let's be honest here...People who collect or collectors, become obsessed, one way or another. Whether it is an Action Figure or Mask or etc.

Yes. As Toy Ranch posted once before, rather than spending the money to get his little plastic toy addiction treated, he decided he'd rather spend the money acquiring more of the little plastic toys instead. A well thought out cost-benefit analysis in my book. After all, while a little plastic toy addiction leaves us with less money, at least it leaves us with an ever increasing quantity of little plastic toys, which may even have some value to others! It's light years better than blowing money on these other adult addictions, such as smokes, booze, both illegal and prescription drugs, all of which not only leave you showing nothing for your money but destroy your health as well. And then what about all the endless hours many/most people watch TV? Surely that destroys brain cells as well.

;)

Collecting! It's what I do!

OK, i need to step back a little after readiing the replies to my post.  OK, i too have OCD, but as everyone is different in the world, people respond to their "brain" in various ways.  I "jumped" on your statement without thinking it all the way through.  As a child of the 60s i should be more understanding.
