Trap-Door Maker

I can't decide if people know I was joking or not :)

Nonetheless, In honor of the current (and awesome) chain of events surrounding this Creature fiasco (damaged items, mysterious plastic fruit substitutions, frankensteined body parts, padded envelopes, etc.), I am starting a thread in the "Non-Monster Toys" section about weird stories of mail-order unexpectedness. I got the ball rolling with three weird stories that either happened to me or someone I knew:

I knew, but I still wish we had done that.

I received an E-mail from the seller asking if I Had received my Item. Here is the reply I sent him. We will see what happens.

"Yes, I did received the item. It had a broken claw. And it does not work! It is supposed to bend at the waist, and upon unpacking it found that it will not bend at the waist. IT LOOKS AS IF IT WAS BROKEN GLUED BACK TOGETHER AND SHIPPED TO ME THIS WAY. I would like for this to be taken care of, Or I will file a complaint with Ebay".[/size]Thank You Universal Rocks!!!!!!!!!

Sounded reasonable to me, considering the situation.

aura of foreboding

I still can't figure out why someone didn't buy a slew of these (thus requiring a box) and resale them here at the UMA for 25 bucks a pop, taking into account the possibility of broken claws and assorted fruit.  I guess everyone was too busy trying to figure out if they were real or not.   ;)

Don't feel bad...it looks like I've missed my chance to get one of those broken Creatures (hey, we all have glue).

Its known that the legals/lawyers at Universal peruse the forum's hallowed halls.  Perhaps they stumbled across this thread and became....interested. Like many of us--interested in knowing if these were actually produced in 1999 or being cranked out now. Either they had a great big warehouse find that just kept on giving, or they were cranking them out a whole new door.

Or I could be paranoid, and they stopped offering them because they seemed incapable of  delivering anything without  using the Incredible Hulk as their courier. IE: Hulk Smash! At any rate they are gone now. Perhaps never to return. But I am still glad I didnt buy one. $18 for a smashed item would've ticked me off.

The seller replied to me asking if I wanted a refund. I told him i would rather have an unbroken Creature. He refunded me instead, so I guess you are right they are all gone now. :-\

I received my Creature a couple weeks ago. Two of the claws were broken, but still attached. The bubble was a little dinged up. Other than that, it was in decent shape.

I documented the opening of the package with my cell phone.

The cat's reaction was worth $18, LOL. In every shot he's like "whaaaaaaat?"

Our cats would break it even worse, if they got that close,

I noticed that other Aqua toys have the exact same packaging. Since they appear to be out of Creatures, maybe I can still get the box, if I could figure out how to get an unbashed one.
