What do you think of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.?

So when the Avengers movie was over and all the talk for a SHIELD tv spin off was being spread, a lot of us comic nerds were excited.  Agent Coulson was definitely one of our favorite Agents, and the thought of more Marvel Universe was very appealing.  So the show hit the square box and us fans sat and watched episode 1, and 2, and so on.  But I quickly noticed a trend in the show. 1) it was very cliche, 2) no super-heroes!, 3) Coulson was cool, and 4) the show was just boring.  After about episode 6 I just couldn't stomach watching it anymore.  The tease for what happened to Coulson lost its luster quickly, and many of the Agents were cliche and annoying.

I could keep going on, but I feel my blood pressure going up as I type.  So, my UMA family, what are your feeling toward Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.?
I became insane, with long intervals of horrible sanity...

I feel it is finally starting to hit its stride but it does seem silly that The Avengers are never really talked about!  They could easily use Hulk, Iron Man or even Captain America at least in the background or helping out on missions.  Many episodes they act like if they don't contain a given threat it may cause mass destruction or the end of the world; yet these instances aren't worrisome enough to assemble The Avengers or even part of the team?  How is the audience supposed to feel any real threat!?  They are setting up a few villians which I assume will be back later on down the road!

They really need to bridge the gapping whole between this show's universe and the cinematic universe; they just don't seem to be the same.

Just getting ready to watch the latest episode. The show has been getting really interesting, lately! One big change that no writer is going to be able to wiggle out of! No surprise, last week (and no spoiler if you aren't caught up) that Fury is still alive (Duh!). I hope Sam Jackson makes an appearance in a future episode!

I've stuck with it, even during a couple of not-so-exciting episodes. But my favorite story line was the John Garrett series! I really liked Bill Paxton on the show!

I always had a feeling that he might turn out to be a baddy and boy did he ever!

And he was rockin' that turtleneck sweater the whole story arc! That's dedication!   :)

Season finale tonight! I don't suppose there's any chance they'll wrap up the current story arc in an hour. Which means season ending cliffhanger! (I hate those!)

SPOILER ALERT!!

Wow! They did it! (See previous post.)  I didn't think they could, but I didn't count on the show moving that fast!

I love how "you know who" got it, the second time! Splert!  And that other bad guy is going to the pokey. Wonder if he'll turn up on future shows?

Guess we'll have to wait till next year to find out who Flowers was talking to.

Oh and what's up with Patton Oswalt?  Robots?

Been watching since the beginning, but really see it as a spy show more than a Marvel offering.  Has gotten more exciting last few episodes though, lucky I'm such a spy fan as well as comic geek.  With all the characters in the Marvel universe, they could throw us a few famiar Hydra villians.  Such as:

  Baron Von Stucker
  Viper
  Baron Zemo
  Arnim Zola

And a few heros like Power Man (luke Cage) or Nova woud be nice.

I suppose I would say the same, though it's fun when they do make a connection with the other characters. Speaking of which, what's up with Fury? He's quitting and turning S.H.I.E.L.D. over to Coulson?

Director (which Fury is handing over to Coulson) wasn't/isn't the highest S.H.I.E.L.D. position.  I assume Fury is just taking a higher position in the revamped organization.

So how far down the chain is Director?

Not sure but I know there was a heirachy over Fury.  I haven't seen Captain America Winter Soldier but I think it was in the Avengers that they should Fury reporting/answering to another group of people.

I haven't read the comics, so I only know what I see in the movies.  :)

Arnim Zola was in the two Captain America films, Viper was in last summer's THE WOLVERINE. As for Baron Strucker, he will be appearing in next year's AVENGERS: AGE OF OF ULTRON film.
