Back in 64 ' my dad , a barber used to cut the hair of the production manager at the Ed Sullivan show , I was 7  my cousin was 11 . My dad got us 3 tickets for that show . My memories were simple as a kid . It was the loudest thing I'd ever heard ,the screaming , the music it was all a blur. I did get to see (what I missed) that night on tv along with 70 million other people . It was the first time I'd ever heard of them and it began a lifelong love affair with their music.

The Beatles' appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show spawned an absolute avalanche of merchandising over and above their records. Here are scans of some of my Topps Beatles cards.

The first one Topps issued was a 155 card set issued in three series:





Topps then issued the Beatles Color Photos set:







A second series of these was issued as Beatles Diary cards:





Finally Topps issued a set based on the Hard Day's Night movie that was released later in 1964:

A long time Beatles fan , I remember buying my first Beatles Pencil Case back in the 60s at McCroys for a whole $.25 cents

For those fans who love everything Beatles , Here's a Few Rutles Videos

Some Monty Python Alum's got together w/ George Harrison Backing them and formed the group "The Rutles"

Word is John liked them so much ne never gave the demo tape back to them , and George and Ringo wanted to start a Band w/ Neil Innes and Eric Idle of the Rutles to recreate the sound of the 60s for a new generation , too bad it was never worked out as it would have been brilliant.

I fully agree it's so funny while The Members of Monty Python were Beatles fans George , Ringo and John loved The Pythons , truely a union that should have been expanded on .

Monty Python's life of Brian wouldn't have been made without the help of George Harrison who put his house on mortgage to help fund the film

It's funny how you mention Paul as he was the only Beatle that was miffed at The Rutles and did not get the humor or Brilliance of them.

Eric Idle mentioned that they both attended an event together and were placed at the same table and the looks Paul was giving him could have frozen the sun.   It finally took Linda to tell Paul to lighten up as it was the funniest thing she had seen in years , after that he changed his opinion.
