Trashfiend is a very interesting and fun mag published in 2002-2003 by a talented writer and reviewer named Scott Stine under the banner Stigmata Press. It covers horror and exploitation fare from the '60s & '70s. Featured are checklists and info on the monster mags mentioned in this thread. Also price guides, but you can pretty much disregard 12 year old info on the value of these mags. To my knowledge only three issues of Trashfiend were published and have been OOP for a long time. I've seen Trashfiend #1 offered on eBay a few times and prices are all over the board. I haven't seen Trashfiend #2 or #3 offered for sale in a long time.

Scott also did a cool book which continued his love affair with trashy horror and uber cool monsters. Clicky el linko.

Thriller was a short lived trash title in the early '60s. It was a hybrid monster mag and girly/men's mag. It featured sensationalistic text stories interlaced with provocative pictures of scantily clad cuties in dire distress. The reprobate behind it was...you guessed it...the infamously twisted Myron Fass, who went on to helm Eerie Publications brandishing a sidearm that would make Dirty Harry envious (obviously Myron was trying to overcompensate for an extreme lack of...). Here is Thriller #2. It just wreaks of smarmy sleaze.  >:D

Trashfiend was preceded by 6 issues of Gick! (1998-2001) also from Scott Stine.

Scream was Skywald's third main title, after Nightmare and Psycho. "Archaic" Al's editorial style and well crafted stories were in full swing with the debut of Scream. Presented are issues 1-5. The Horror-Mood was oozing forth like an unstoppable Great Old One in the pages of Scream, baby!

Good call on the Gick!, zh! I ordered those many moons ago and enjoyed the hell outta'em. In checking that Trashcollector website it looks like Stine has it current. That would be the best bet to order back issues of Trashfiend or Gick!.

I had three images fail to show after a few hours, one image in three different posts. At first I could refresh my UMA screen and the image would appear restored, but after time they just stayed as the dreaded little "X in a box". It was always the last image in each affected post. I modified the one I posted last (cover to Trashfiend #3) and re-posted that image as the smaller one. When I went back to Imageshack to retrieve the image it would not load as the expanded image. Imageshack recently went through an overhaul and evidently isn't entirely stable. I reported those two remaining failed images to the mods to delete, since it was too late for me to go back and modify those posts. I apologize for any images which fail because of possible problems with Imageshack.

The first, and only, two issues of Skywald's Hell Rider. This appeared a full year before Marvel's Ghost Rider did in Marvel Spotlight #5. Written by the same writer as began Ghost Rider- Gary Friedrich. Art was by Ross Andru & Mike Esposito. This vigilante rode a hog mounting a flamethrower and featured a bit of the old ultraviolence. Fun stuff.

Notice the black & white hotties huddled in the background on the cover to #1. They look very much like "the victims" in Skywald's infamous Saga Of The Victims which ran as a long continuing story in later Skywalds.

Here are scans of two of my Curtis magazines:

While lowbrow compared with the Warrens, Curtis mags still featured some pretty good cover art.

I have been having trouble with ImageShack since they revamped their site. Sometimes my images appear...sometimes they don't. If you refresh the screen most of the time they reappear, but this is very annoying. I'm going to open an account with PhotoBucket and use them from now on. Hepcat recommended them and he doesn't seem to have issues with his images appearing. The scans are the best part of a thread like this. Hopefully that will straighten things out.

I just checked this thread again and now hardly any of my images are showing up. When I get the account with PhotoBucket started I will repost all of this stuff.

I just went back to ImageShack and they had a notice posted: "We are aware of images failing to load. The issue is being addressed", or words to that effect. I'll wait for awhile and see if they get it resolved.
