Monsters For Sale

National Geographic Channel is presenting a new, 2-hour made-for-TV movie at 9:00 PM Pacific Time today.

Looks like it could be interesting.  It concerns a cyber-attack on the U.S.'s power grid and the aftermath during the first couple of weeks.

I've been wondering when someone would finally address this topic ever since Snake Plissken entered 666.

("American Blackout" will re-air on various channels over the next two days.)

Thanks.  Missed the 9:00 showing, but have my DVR set to record the 11:00.

Wow, I freak out when the cable goes out for more than 15 minutes.

Unfortunately, that was even less effective than what I was expecting.

I was really put off by the fact some of the doomsday commercials didn't seem to look much different from the program.  Suddenly I would realize that the movie had already been interrupted, and I was watching some TV celebrity usta was hawking Purina Prepper Chow.

Maybe now that someone has dome something along this storyline, it will put the idea in the ear of a better writer/director/production company.

Hell, it wouldn't even have to be a total blackout - just a major Y2K style crash of the Internet.

I didn't realize that this was a mockumentary style film.  I was looking forward to expert testimony on the various possible scenarios, and instead I got the National Geographic Channel's answer to Discovery's Megalodon special.

I knew there was a reason I had no interest in watching it! It's getting so I can smell these stupid "Mermaids"-type things in advance.

Yeah, it's a real shame about this one.  It would have been interesting show, but now it seems these "educational" networks feel the need to cater solely to the ADD generation.

The "History" Channel, National Geographic Channel , etc.  seem to be in a competition to cater to lovers of doomsday scenarios and the incurably paranoid.

Sigh.
