Universal Steve

Just watched it. Good episode with some great memories. He went to the Salem Toy Musuen in Salem Massachuettes. He actually bought somethings from him. I was there when it first opened and the guy told me nothing was for sale. It is all from his personal collection. He let him buy stuff out of his closet. I saw a Dracula Mystery game in the closet and I am going back to Salem in about 3 weeks.   I will have to stop by and see if I can strike a deal for it.  If he can sell to the Toy Hunter then he can sell to Universal Steve. The guitarist had a lot of cool and expensive stuff. I suppose if I made the money he does for being in a band I could get the high end stuff also. Always fun to see other collections.

Great episode tonight!  I know it's off topic, but I couldn't help but scratch my head over how they were wearing their seat belts while they were driving around.

I noticed the seatbelts, too. It was distracting!

So what about the prices on that stuff? Does that PEZ ad really go that high? I thought that carded AHI Mummy jiggler was beyond top dollar. And do the carded jigglers have tags?

I wanted to see more of Kirk's collection. I was surprised he was confined to one short segment at the very end of the program. I thought they would devote more screen time to touring his house and talking to him about his stuff.

Seemed high to me in this episode. It's a scripted show, so who knows. Not like there gonna have him buy up this stuff and have Kirk say, nahhh, pass...O0...though Bonaducci passed on the Partridge Family bus recently.

The prices definitely seemed a little crazy on this one, both in what he was asking and in particular how much he paid for some of the items.  As a mask collector, I've seen that 1967 Don Post Skull go for the $240 he paid for it or less pretty frequently, let alone the $500 he was going to ask for it.  Just for the heck of it, I looked up the Munsters lunch box on eBay and found that it also sells for the $350 he paid for it or less, and that's in similar condition to the one he found.  He wanted to sell it for $600.  I'm thinking that he gets a lot of uninformed buyers if he's able to get those prices.

I watched it. The good thing is they are showing SOMETHING featuring monster toys. The bad thing is all the wasted time with the format of the show. At the risk of sounding rude I'm going to be honest with my opinion here. I don't care about Jordan, or Steve, or whether Jordan makes his sales goal at the next show, or if he finds a freakin' overpriced bigfoot doll, or if he loses weight, or if he kisses some celebrity's ass properly. I care about the stuff, and the market. I sat through an hour show and saw 8-10 minutes of monster toys and the rest poorly scripted drama. We only got to see glimpses of the Kirk Hammett collection, which was the coolest part of the show and should have gotten at least a 20 minute segment. I may just stop watching Toy Hunter. The aggravating parts of the show are starting to outweigh what little good there is. Many of you seem to like the show far more than I do, and to that I say good. If you enjoy it then that's great. I'm just liking it less and less.
ALWAYS MONSTERING...

One other thing . . . his assistant Julia (real or not) should be featured prominently on every episode.

Well, now you're just messing with my entire worldview.

I don't disagree with anything you stated. I just find myself FFing through the show until I see some actual toys. And I sure don't use it as a reference for the toy market. Take what little good there is to see and FF through the rest and you're done with the show in ten minutes.

I'd like to see how kirk displays his toy collection. I love the book I'd just like to see how he's got them on display.

My question is how did that 1967 Don Post Skull mask survive sitting in a truck trailer on a Styrofoam head and still stay that nice?  I'm not much of a mask collector, but own a few and thought it would be worse shape than it looked.

I was so tickled during the whole show!! It was nice to hear people on tv actually talking about a subject I enjoy hearing about! I was talking along with the show, just to show off to my husband how much I know about monster toys! Ha! We've been married for hundreds of years, so I like to surprise him once in a while. :)  I was breathing shallowly when they opened the door to Mr. Hammett's house. I recorded the show so that I can go back and look at his collection some more! He seems like such a nice person, and it seemed like he has so much respect for the collectibles he has amassed. I would love to see a whole show about his collection!
The 80s Frankenstein mask was my favorite find- when they opened that storage trailer, I couldn't believe the treasures I saw! The Pez ad was really neat to see. I also really enjoyed the enthusiastic buyers at HorrorHound weekend. Overall, I really enjoyed the show and I wish there were more Monster toy episodes!
