On the subject of Rondo's, I'd like to see Mezco take one home for their Creature as best stylized monster figure.

Unfortunately, there's only one award (which includes model kits). Creature gets my vote, though!

Maybe we could have the UMA AWARDS for toys, kits, etc.?

That's not a terrible idea. But I could see it getting politicized and rancorous. Also, we would really need a substantial "trophy" to send to the winners. Just a verbal "good job" and a jpg image isn't enough. I would want us to do it right or not do it at all. But I do think a legit UMA toy award has credibility.

I would love to see this on the UMA board. There are some very talented folk on here, not only in the Monster Toy section but the model kit section. Would willingly help where I could too

The Rondos seem to focus heavily on horror journalism, with several related categories. Meanwhile, their one merch category includes T-shirts as well as 3-D items. Unfortunate, as it seems like horror-themed model kits could regularly warrant its own category, as could horror toys.

I'd love to see a UMA awards vote. If you allow all members to vote, I don't see how anyone can get political about the results -- it's not like these toys are deciding national policy. And the award could be as simple as a color printout in an inexpensive frame. We have received some of those from sites, as well as some basic award plaques.

And film (Best Movie, Best Restoration, etc.)

Naturally everyone would vote.

I don't see anything wrong with a nicely printed cert with one of those gold seals or blue ribbon on it.

Sounds do-able to me. I think it would be a blast.
We're all here because we're not all there.

If the UMA had an annual toy and model award, I'd want it to be the premiere award in the horror collecting hobby, not just another one of many. I'd want it to ne a "real" award. Obviously, there would be categories for toys. I don't know if we should have a mask category. That kind of stomps on the HMA. I'm not sure about resin and vinyl models, either. We've experienced a lot of friction with the garage kit community. I'm not sure they'd want an award from us. Maybe we'd stick with styrene kits.

What is a "real" award? Like one of them bowling trophies, or an Oscar?

Yes, a real trophy-type award would be a must.  We could have a ceremony of some sort at a designated convention each year to distribute them.

This sounds like a great idea! Perhaps we could have two polls.
Poll one could decide what categories we should have.Say for example:
           -Best monster styrene kit produced
           -Best monster action figure
           -Best monster statue
           -Best monster art (professional)
           -Best monster art (amateur)
           -Best custom monster figure
           -Best custom monster styrene kit
           -Best monster kid
           -Etc,etc,etc
Every member puts in their 2 cents worth of what categories we should have and then we have a poll to decide say the top ten(or whatever we think is reasonable).
Poll two can be on what the award should be:
           - A brass plaque
           - A framed printed certificate
           - A trophy
           - A cold cast bronze bust
           - A t-shirt
           -Etc,etc,etc
Same again, each member has a say.
We can worry about the design and name of the award when we know what it actually is.
Anyway just something to think about.
