UPDATE------ My sister in Florida found all the Monster Cereals today at Walgreens! She sent me a picture and I spazzed out!

I posted in one of the monster cereal topics that I found the cereals (all but Fruit Brute) at Walgreens last week!

But the box from Walgreens looked like some kind of mixed flavor and the package was not a retro box.

The Yummy Mummy ( at Walgreens) is the new orange creme flavor....and it's pretty dang good!   And correct, Target is the only place with the retro boxes!

Walgreens is on the ball! I noticed that Target had a section with Halloween buckets of Cheetos, Halloween themed blackberry Koolaid, and other Halloween themed treats, but no cereal.
Oh who am I kidding.....I'm going to Walgreens tomorrow! That orange crème flavor sounds irresistible.

Halloween themed blackberry Koolaid

I had some of that a few years ago....loved it!!  Bought some extra packets to enjoy over the year and to this day have no clue what happened to them?!  Apparently they disappear at the end of the haunting season!  Never saw any last year.

It looks like we'll have to visit our UK members for some of this ...

Even though it is labeled as a fall seasonal, Newcastle Werewolf  will be available at every Binny's location within the next couple of weeks.  Here is how Newcastle describes their latest brew: "What better way to toast the fall than to have a bottle of this formidable, dual character brew. At first, smooth with mellow overtones of sweet berry fruit, a bite of bitterness suddenly cuts through, long, deep and lingering. Brewed with rye malt, it is naturally blood red in color. Unlike the mythical wolf-like creature said to roam the bleak moorland surrounding Newcastle, this is real, so consider yourself warned!"

It is available in the States.  Had some last year--it is pretty good. The label is the best part.  If you like Newcastle's regular Brown Ale, you will probably enjoy it.

It's tough to wean Americans from their mass market Bud and Coors light beers though. Madison Avenue relabelled tasteless watery beers as "smooth" several decades ago and American drinkers bought into the scam.

:o

As opposed weaning Canadians from Labatt and Molson or Carling?  ::)

But what do I know?  I'm kind of fond of Moosehead and Kokanee. ;)

Personally .. I can't stand Coors and seeing Coors Light as number one makes me ill.

RE- Monster Cereals.

Doesn't it bother any of the oldsters here that the modern version of this stuff does not look, or most importantly TASTE remotely like the original Count Chocula, FrankenBerry, etc.? I have tried them repeatedly, and to me, they all taste like bland crap, and I used to love 'em.

As far as The Vintage Cereal Experience, the only current product that tastes like the old days is cheap-o bagged cereal called "Quaker Sweet Crunch", which is very close in flavor to the original Quisp. The funny thing is, even the modern day Quisp tastes nothing like the original. Go get some Sweet Crunch.

Despite their snobbishness, Canadian beer drinkers are less than a decade behind Americans in their rush to blandness. My father drank Labatt's IPA:

So full bodied and out of step with today's mainstream preferences that Labatt stopped making it nearly twenty years ago.

I agree! It's both a disgrace and deeply embarrassing. Canadian beer drinkers for generations scoffed at U.S. brews as "water" yet younger fellows today have cavalierly embraced U.S. knockoffs while turning their backs on Canada's own brews. I want to scream at the wimps and sister boys at the Beer Store who claim they like beer but don't want the ones that taste too much like beer.

Quote from: HeinekenBrewed in Holland according to the original recipe, Heineken's distinctive flavour....

An outright lie! Heineken is no longer brewed according to the "original" recipe. The CEO of Sleeman's Brewery in Guelph told me that his brewmasters specifically measure the bitterness units competitors' brews contain, and Heineken's are way done from what they used to be. Heineken has been dumbed down to conform with modern tastes. That's how Heineken has managed to increase its sales in North America in the past decade or two.

This whole thread makes me jealous! I've always rented, so I never had the means or the reason to go crazy with yard decoractions, I don't really drink, so the cool beer thing in no good, and I don't eat gelatin and it seems every flavor of those damn Monster cereals are littered with it. I may pick up Fruit Brute, anyway, but I won't be happy about it! Humbug!  >:D

KSC- Is the gelatin in the cereal bits or just the marshmallows? I'm no foot expert or dietician, but I was thinking you could pick out the bits with the gelatin, unless it's a serious allergy. Also, you can put a skeleton or homemade lifesized Monster inside your house- in front of a window with a light aimed up at it, and enjoy it from outside. We put our Mummy in the window because it won't hold up outside in rainy weather. I also have never had a beer- I'm 51 and I keep thinking I'll have one the next year...but it smells weird so I don't have the nerve! I LOVE the decorative Fall/Halloween bottle art!

Is it for dietary law reasons - or because you are a strict vegetarian?

I think it's just the marshmallows. I suppose I could pick them out, but then then I might as well get fruity pebbles or Cocoa Puffs or something.

You know, I think I will decorate this year! This is first time we are in an actual house of our own, so I do have the space to do it, I just can't justify a full on set up only to take it down and then end up in an apt next year, for instance. Still, a couple of decorations would do the trick.

Vegetarian. I always feel hypocritical about it, as technically a truly strict vegetarian would be vegan, but we all have our particularities, I guess. For example, my mother who is also a vegetarian, and just as passionate about it, will eat gelatin. Others eat fish, ect. If I eat it by mistake, or take a bite of my daughter's Rocky Road ice cream or something, I don't get too upset about it, but when I know it's in there beforehand, it's too late.

There are lots of things that can be done without breaking the bank and can be used in both houses and apartments.

Gel Gems make wonderful window clings and there are other brands too.

I purchase tape such as these for a dollar a roll at Dollarama ..

Your local dollar store will or should have lots of neat decorations such as spider webs and cut out skeletons and many other items.

Good luck ..  ;D
