Best Buy Upgrade & Save program

Anyone else participate in the program?  For those that don't know, you bring in old dvd's (up to 5 per visit) and they give you $5 off coupons in exchange!  The coupons are good on any Blu-ray $9.99 and up.

The wife and I traded in some dups as well as flicks I just didn't care for and some movies the kids out grew, we split the 10 dvd's between us for a total of 10 coupons.  I was really looking for Blu-ray/dvd combos as I don't have a Blu-ray player just yet.

Managed to get Jaws, Shrek, Kick-Ass, Jumanji (wife thought the kids might like it) The Sitter (some comedy my wife was told is funny!?) as combo packs for $5 each!  Also picked up Full Metal Jacket, Glory and Kill Bill Vol. 1&2 but of course can't watch them until we upgrade the surround system!

I've never heard of this program! What a cool way to get rid of those winners like "Zombie Honeymoon"...and trade in for something we really have wanted to buy, but hate to add more to the pile! My son does this kind of stuff all the time with video games, but I didn't know any store took dvds for trade in. Thanks!

Nope, doesn't have to be same title!  You bring in any dvd you want and get a $5 coupon good on any instock Bluray $9.99 and up.  I've actually heard that some folks are going to dollar stores, buying dvds there and then trading them for the $5 coupon!

One of the Best Buys I went to yesterday failed to either mark my coupon receipt or keep the coupons (they are supposed to do one or the other but I've read that some don't) so I used them again today!

Got Jurassic Park 1-3 and a CGI flick called Dinosaurs as Bluray/dvd combo packs, they were on sale so they ended up being 8 bucks apiece!  Also picked up another Bluray, Black Hawk Down!  I wish they'd let you get $7.99 flicks, one could really stock up!

FYI! Jaws and Shrek were actually $10 ($5 off sale+$5 coupon).  I think there is only one week left for this promotion go round, I may hit the stores one more time depending on what flicks go on sale this week.  I believe they will do this again in the fall....might be a good time to get some horror flicks!

I usually do the program and have this time as well, but after my last experience at Best Buy, I'm not sure I will again. Long story short, managers should not claim there is no such program when yet have signs in the store, say you can't use coupons on specifically advertised titles, and then claim you never even traded in DVDs and you didn't get the coupons the correct way. Corporate got an earful from me
