I look back to older classics from my youth that I "see" as halloween music...

Monster Mash
Godzilla (blue oyster cult)
Edgar Winter's Frankenstein,
Thriller,
Elvira's music,
Purple People eater,
Mannhein Steamroller's Halloween cds,
Van Helsing soundtrack,
Hocus Pocus soundtrack,

Heck, my halloween mix plays for about 6 hours or so, and totally fills one cd.. and in my dvd player, I have it as well as soundtracks to halloween movies.. Halloween, Ghostbusters, Hellboy, ect.

Wicked Lester

This one is hard to track down but is very cool. Phantom Creeps. Great horror/surf hybrid.

With only 1000 total pressed, odds are unless you know someone with mp3 rips, yer just not going to find this though.

Cole, there are several members here who are Past Masters both of knowing this stuff, and of "burning their own" mixes -

Wolf Man

For my money Midnight Syndicate is the most awesome.  They create all new music with such Haunting themes you feel as if you are walking through the graveyard with a Vampire.  I have all their CD's.  Out of the Darkness and Vampyre are my two favorites in the bunch, but it is all awesome music.  Their cover art is equally impressive.

You will find their music playing at most Haunted Houses around the Country as well as Bush Gardens Howl-o-Scream.  Their Music is part of a show at Bush Gardens.

Be on the Lookout for "The Dead Matter"

Just call me a huge fan

Try these guys--

Particularly the song "Undertaker". Although they look a lot like your typical Goth Rockers, their music has more of a 60s feel to it. I think you'll like it if you give it a try.
You knew the job was dangerous when you took it, Fred.

I don't look for really creepy stuff, I prefer some of the 50's shock horror music (Like in the Creature), or fun halloween themed tunes like monster mash, elvira, and the like. Those, and music that just seems like it belongs around halloween, sometimes by title (like, say, werewolves of london, or fresh price's nightmare on my street.)

I used to have a "spook rock" radio show in college.
I was really just trying to rip off Zacherley, but wasn't everybody else anyway?

I played a lot of The Misfits, The Cramps, The Damned but I would throw in stuff like Danzig and Type O Negative and Tiger Army.

I also collect old Monster Rock novelty records from the 50s and 60s so I had tons of that too. Occasionally I'd throw in bizarre stuff like Tom Waits and Nick Cave.

Do some searches for these bands
======================

The Cramps
The Frankenstein Drag Queens From Planet 13
Morgus & The Ghouls
The Mummies
Grave Mistake
The Cryptkeeper Five
Spy Society 99
Tarantula Ghoul
45 Grave
Screamin' Jay Hawkins
Screamin' Lord Sutch
Samhain

I could go on and on...

josie monster

Cole, some real fun monster music came from Horror Host John Zacherle.
Spook Along With Zacherley
Zacherley's Dead Man's Ball
Halloween Hootenanny ( Zach with Rob Zombie & others)
Monster Mash Party
Interment For Two
100% monster related fun, mostly Universal themed. 1005 pure Zacherle.

Try to find the two great comps on the Buffalo Bop Label, Monster Bop and Hooror Hop. There's also a hard-to-find CD called Doo Wop Halloween is a Scream, and one called These Ghoulish THings.

There's a lot of stuff to download on the web, from individual songs to ready-made mixes Unfortauanley, I haven't saved any links--try this one though:

Here are two more suggestions:

"As Seen on TV Halloween Specials" this is a great collection of TV themes from the Munsters, Bewitched, Scooby Do and lots of others.  Included on the CD is some of the aforementioned classics and also two songs from Rocky Horror Picture Show.  There is also a track from Little Shop of Horrors.  I have this with me and listen to it all the time.

Another is Drews Halloween Thrillers CD 1, picked this one up at a Party City store.  I love all the tracks, this is a fun CD.  There is a CD 2 sold sperately, did not like that one as much.  CD 1 has the following tracks:

1 Monster Mash
2 Thriller, Michael Jacksons
3 Halloween Theme - my all time favorite, play it over and over
4 Im Your Boogie Man
5 Welcome to my Nightmare
6 Theme from Psycho
7 Ghostbusters - Who you gonna call?
8 Don't Fear the Reaper, awesome tune
9 Tubular Bells
10 Time Warp
