Screamers is another favorite of mine, maybe I just like Peter Weller movies.

2010's "Monsters". Despite its very alluring title, a lot of people hate this film (which was actually shot all digitally) due to its slow, building pace and the fact that the monsters are not in every scene. But in my opinion that's precisely what makes this movie different, excellent and well worth watching. Let's hear what you think...

"Do you know what I've got in those crates?"

I like the usually-hated "Neighbors".

But I have to do a little mind trick in order to watch it at all.  I have to filter out the god-awful musical/sound effects score.

The movie is funny.  It looks like the studio was worried that it would not be what the public was expecting and "punched it up" with sound effects and musical cues to let the audience know when they should laugh.  I'm surprised they did not add a laugh track.

The quiet frustration scenes with Belushi in his living room, listening to the clock ticking away his monotonous life should have been allowed to play with no music at all - much more effective.

Someone should re-score this film with a more subtle, understated sound track that matches the tone of the humor in the film.  It could earn a whole new audience and a larger cult following.  A DVD could be released with both soundtracks.

You gotta love Cathy Moriarty as the next door neighbor's slinky wife.  (Hubba freaking hubba!)

By-the-way, I also have the same problem with Don Knott's "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken" - a fine kiddie ghost film practically ruined with overdone music and musical cues.

Try watching both with the mindset that the terrible music just isn't there.  Works (sorta) for me.

In all honesty, I haven't seen Neighbors since it was first run in the theatre, but I don't remember being that bothered by the musical/sound effects score.  What I remember was what a great subdued performance by Belushi, and that Ackroyd was great in it.
As far as "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken" is concerned, I have that film, and I'm not bothered by the scoring, since that was pretty much the same in all the Knott's "loser makes good" films he made for Universal during the period.  I also love the theme song of the film, going from scary to a playful sound, reflecting perfectly the film it was intended for.
What ever happened to my Transylvania Twist?

Well, clearly, I am right and you, sir, are wrong.

So you don't think that was what Belushi gave a great subdued performance, and that Ackroyd was great in it?  Guess then, we will have to disagree.

No problems at all with the performances - Just the music.

It was my feeble attempt at humor.  No one is right or wrong.  This is thread is all about opinion.  I don't expect people to like what I like or for the same reasons.

I love Jason X.
I think as long as you view it as a one off, a "what if" and not part of teh continuity I think it can be a lot of fun. The scene on the holodeck is hysterical (at least to me).

Same here, and I loved the female android.  The character of Jason honestly never made sense to me, except in the first film, where the idea of Jason surviving turned out to be a nightmare, (Gee, I hope I'm not giving any spoilers here. :P)  If such a being like Jason existed, I can see where a goverment team would want to recover the body to study, and it would no doubt be a huge mistake.

When I first watched this film at a Drive-in, I totally disliked the film. When Jason X was finally released on VHS and DVD
I watched the film again, still, not fully on board. But after a couple more viewings, I started to enjoy Jason X. Now I own the film on Bluray. Go figure. :o

Totally fun movie to watch.

I had the exact same reaction to Mel Brooks "Dracula Dead and Loving it."
