Just wanted to pass this on-

Friday, January 25th come down to the Six Corners neighborhood for
some wacky fun, and enjoy an Ed Wood Double Feature at the beautiful,
historic Portage Theater in Chicago!

A double feature of BRIDE OF THE MONSTER and PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE
will be shown, with special guest CONRAD BROOKS!

(Start time to be announced.)

The Portage Theater is located at 4050 N. Milwaukee Avenue, in
Chicago, just west of the "Six Corners" intersection of Milwaukee
Avenue, Irving Park Road and Cicero Avenue.

This is a great neighborhood, with lots of wonderful little
restaurants. Best of all, there is a very reasonably priced city
parking lot just a couple blocks from the theater-- easy to park!

Come out for a fun evening, and help support the rebirth of this
wonderful theater!

The Drunken Severed Head

There is nothing like seeing Ed Wood movies with a whole theatre full of people.

I just watched the "Plan Nine Companion", Flying Saucers Over Hollwyood the night before last for my first time. It was released in 1992, well before the Ed Wood movie, but it touched on many events that were depicted there. At one point I had to hit rewind and freeze the picture on my screen. The narrator mentioned briefly "These are the Mariposa apartments where Ed lived when he was making Plan Nine." The freeze frame confirmed that these were the very same apartments I lived in when I first moved to Los Angeles. They are called Kensington Gardens, located at 1002 N. Mariposa in Hollywood, just off Santa Monica. They are built in an Olde English, crumbling Tudor style and were allegedly used as a set for a 1925 Peter Pan movie (a claim that I kinda doubt, but would like to believe). They are just the kind of place you'd expect to find a monster fan or Ed Wood himself.
You knew the job was dangerous when you took it, Fred.

None at all, but this wig is starting to itch something fierce.
