When I was investigating the making of Orca, I read that a King Kong Vs. Orca movie was rumored! That would have been straaaange!
Well Orca was Dilaurentis's attempt to make his own "Jaws", and there is his Kong movie, which was sadly hampered by the lack of an ice skating scene in Cental Park. If Dino Dilaurentis (affectionately known by bad film afficiandos as "Dino DiHorendous) had Combined Kong and Orca, I have no doubt the resulting messterpiece would have been hilariously bad, and I'm sorry he didn't do that.  This could have been the "Citizen Kane" of bad motion pictures.  Perhaps some future Ed Wood will fullfil that dream, with a dream cast with Keannu Reeves, Nicolas Cage, and Lindsay Lohan.
What ever happened to my Transylvania Twist?

Gee, you don't like Keanu Reeves either -- what a surprise! He is so stiff and pathetic that he should have played Gort the robot instead of Klaatu in that putrid re-botch of "The Day The Earth Stood Still". In fact, they simply shouldn't have made that piece of crap -- it was criminal to insult such a classic film!

mars- If you love each & every JAWS movie, (Including the one where Michael Caine romanced Mrs. Brody), and you don't question animal behavior....then you would like this movie- a lot!   :)
It had a distinct non-CGI 70s feel, and it had a mechanical killer whale, so I was enamored by it. I'm going to watch it again tonight with my husband. I know he's never seen it before- he was sheltered as a child- hahahaha!

Now I want to see the film. I can not recall seeing the film previously? I do remember the film's advertisement in
Theatres during the 70s.  Now that was a great era for film. So many over-the-top films. Planet of the Apes, Jaws,
and then.......Star Wars. Good times.
"They come from the bowels of hell; a transformed race of walking dead. Zombies, guided by a master plan for complete domination of the Earth."

Haunted hearse- You crack me up! Dino Dihorendous! Love it!
mars- Remember....oooooh you're getting sleeeepy....you will like it if you dream of movies with killer whales seeking revenge.....
Also- I have mentioned this before on another topic- that GRIZZLY movie trailer scared me out of my skin, when I saw it at the movie theater! I really want to see that movie now that I'm a mature adult!

Zackuth

I remember watching the movie when it came out.  I read the book before I saw the movie.  I have seen it a few times on tv since, I still enjoy it.  I think I still have a few comics that has that ad on the back too.

I'm definitely gonna have to watch ORCA again - just watched the trailer on YouTube and forgot that Will Sampson is in it, also.  Ahhhh, the Savage Seventies!

Meanwhile...  for Char...

Most remakes are lame at best. They do it for name recognition, but it usually amounts to lazy film making. I've found the best thing to come from a remake is that they are prompted to release the original on DVD and/or BRD with cool new extras. That's what most of us really care about anyway.
ALWAYS MONSTERING...

The Creeper

Orca is a great one!  And Grizzly is too!
Long live the UMA!

OMGosh!! I haven't seen that trailer since I was a monster-ling! "it knows what we're thinking!"HA!!  I think I'm also ready to see this movie! And for some reason the Grizzly Bear looks way more snuggly & attractive then I remember. His coat is lovely! And he shaes his fur like Chewbacca- hahahaha! I have hearts popping out of my head for Grizzly!  He's kind of romantic looking like the Beast in the Beauty and the Beast movie!

McDougals House of Horror

I remember seeing Grizzly and all I could think of was, "Hey that's Sam Troy (Christopher George) from The Rat Patrol", a great mid-60's TV series about Allied soldiers fighting Rommel's Afrika Korps in WWII North Africa.

This was another great horror film that played on the tube.  Again, glued to the tv!!!

Phantom Stranger

I remember seeing this film at a drive in (remember those) back when it was first released. My only clear memory of it is Bo Derek in shorts and(spoiler) getting her leg bit off.

charp13

YES! Her cast didn't save her from ORCA! But she did survive  :)   The Capt. mentioned that she was "maimed".

D.D. Wookie

You all are also forgetting the beautiful score by Ennio Morricone.  Very haunting, somber.
