I know there's a few old threads about this guy, but from what I remember, it was kind of a big deal so I'm gonna start another one. I got this recently and I don't mind sharing pics of it.  ;) The blister was included, but fortunately it was only stapled on so I felt no guilt about carefully removing it to get a better pic. No figure, though. It came with a loose AHI Frankenstein..  :(

Roback

Very cool Dave, even without the blister.

Woah, was that on ebay?  Yikes!  Where did that come from?  That is a fabulous find, even in that condition.  I hope you don't have any intention of throwing away the bubble.  Even if it's cracked up, keep the bubble.

Did this come from the United States?  If so, it would all but dispel the idea that the second series Tomland monsters were only sold in the UK.

So I have a Mummy with no card, and you have a card with no Mummy.  I think we need to bump into each other like two people in an old Reese's Peanut Butter Cups commercial.

In fact, seeing as there are so few of these Tomland Mummies in existence (two that anyone knows about), I have to wonder if that could be the very same card that originally held my Mummy!  It's possible!  You can't prove it ain't so!

Here is my Tomland Mummy on a repro card.  I think I did a pretty good job of reproducing the artwork without the benefit of a good, clear picture like we now have thanks to Dave.

Oooh, that looks familiar!  I think I remember sleeping on that cardboard...long ago...

Actually, this came from neither the US nor the the UK, but instead from Argentina. And while that doesn't prove it's not the card that housed your figure, I think it makes it less likely.  ;)

I could have sworn that your repro card had some pyramids in the background, which I actually think I prefer to the actual image.

I can't remember. I do know there was a Wolf Man auction, but have we seen the Frankenstein and Dracula?

ramsey37

I've seen a pic somewhere of the Frankenstein, but I don't think anyone has ever found a Dracula yet.

Wow! The card back images are great. I remember my mini Tomland monsters were carded when I got them as a kid,
and this looks familiar! Great find Dave!

Nekro my friend, you are a true monster kid. Your readiness and willingness to share has not gone unnoticed I hope. Certainly not by me. The only reason it was a big deal, was because somebody was trying to make it a big deal. And for what I'll never know?

Anyways, the figure and/or the card .. that's the real deal. And you scored big time! Congrats and salute! Well done on all levels.

NekroDave-- thanks so much for posting that. You are awesome. The Argentina thing is intriguing. If they were sold down there, that is a whole 'nother collecting avenue to trace them to. We need to get Brian Heiler of Foreign Mego to use some of his S. American contacts to look into his.

Regardng the Tomland Frankenstein:  saw one up close when Mark Huckabone had one. It has a red shirt. Black pants and jacket. But to my memory, the head does not much resemble the image on the back of the card. Interesting that the image on the card back so closely resembles the Lincoln Frankenstein.

Again, thanks!

Man, he does look like the Lincoln Frankie. I love the illo of the Wolfman – very beatnik! This does make the 8inch phantom look unlikely, unless there was a third series.

This has got me to wondering about the mini-monster. I had the Skeleton, Mummy and Wolfman and I think the Dracula. I've seen the Yeti, Frank and Phantom. I wonder if there was an eighth figure? I had the small starroid raiders figure with a glowing fly head (Dado). I wonder if they made a mini-fly?

I think you did a great job, my friend. Having re-created some cards myself from rags and bones, I applaud your work.
