I have to use my mom's computer cause my computer is acting up again. My computer was unplugged all day and it shut down, I plugged it in and let it charge but now there is no screen that comes up when I turn it on again, its a laptop. Does anyone know whats going on and can help me with it??

Have you recieved all of your patches, etc. from Windows or Microsoft? Plus do you have an anti- virus program installed??

Have you recently installed a sort of standalone software (or application) that requires Java or flash? 
Also, have you run a complete system scan recently on your PC with your anti- virus software?
Is your battery securely in place and do you have enough power to start it up?

Not sure what kind of laptop you have but apparently Acer is known for the "black screen of death"!!

Just a few months ago my wife was listening to music thru a website, when she went to turn the laptop off it was a black screen.  I tried everything I could to bring it back, short of ordering a new screen, and never could get it back.  If you put a flash light really close to the screen you can see their is something there but the backlight may not be working (Another part I'd have to order!)?!  I just ended up taking the laptop and plugging it into an old pc monitor we had......now the girls use that one to play on!

If you have a newer tv you may be able to plug into that and you can at least look at what you are doing!  Maybe try to do a system restore to a previous saved date?!

Yep, everything but the screen itself works great!!

Whenever I have a problem .. I'll google what the problem is and read the 'geek' forums until I find a solution that I use to fix the problem.

Yep, been there done that.....over and over and over......nothing!  I'm guessing on our Acer it is the backlight that crapped out.

Googling a problem is a good idea but the thing is that "not all PC's or notebooks are the same". Acer has had this problem with their machines most of the time, as did HP for a while.

my laptop is a gateway and the charger works, the battery is charged and I have not added any new software to my pc. yesterday it worked until the battery ran too low and shut off now there is no screen coming on.

Sounds like the monitor just burned out.  How hold is it?
