The Batman

I'd love for a big Dr. Who fan to tell me which episode to watch to get hooked on it.

A friend made me watch an episode around 1986 but I simply could not get into more than 20 minutes of it.

Please tell me the name of a classic, well done episode that may get me hooked on it.

I do like sci fi and B movie cheese.

I'd start with the first episode of the relaunched series. 2005's "Rose," from Series One with Christopher Eccleston and Billie Piper.

If that episode doesn't make you want to see more Doctor Who, try a Tom Baker story. Though it will take a few episodes to tell the whole story, you will get another chance to get into the show (and I like the Fourth Doctor's personality best). Count, do you have a suggestion for the first Tom Baker episode of Doctor Who one should try? If so, thanks!

I'd go with "Genesis of the Daleks."

And, if the Ninth and Fourth Doctor episodes mentioned here don't catch your interest, I would suggest the Twelfth Doctor (the current one) episode "Mummy on the Orient Express"! It may remind you (in a good way!) of "Horror Express"!

For a really immersive experience into the "Doctor Who" universe, there's the fiftieth anniversary special, "The Day of the Doctor." You have three versions of the Doctor (five if you include cameos by Tom Baker and Peter Capaldi), and the mini-episode "The Night of the Doctor," featuring Eighth Doctor Paul McGann.

The first line (I think it's the first line) Paul McGann says in that mini-episode is hilarious, too. And true.

So far, I'm really liking series 9. Capaldi has truly come into his own as The Doctor. I wasn't sure about the mostly two-parter nature of this season's episodes, but it's actually worked out pretty well. After this Saturday's "The Woman Who Lived" episode, Series Nine, Part One will be available on DVD & BRD on November 3rd.

Peter Capaldi returns as the Doctor alongside Jenna Coleman as Clara in the first six thrilling episodes of Series Nine. Now that the Doctor and Clara have established a dynamic as a partnership of equals, they re relishing the fun and thrills that all of space and time has to offer. Tangling with ghosts, Vikings and the ultimate evil of the Daleks, they embark on their biggest adventures yet.
