Tried three variations on this. Not an easy one but I did my best given the resources available. I'm prone to the last one with the black side cover.

Could we get a full-sized image of this to print for our DVD?

That was actually a fan made cover done by myself and my friend Ansel. I pieced together the artwork, he did the color and logos. When I get time I might make that cover again and have him colorize it. :)

That would be great.  It really needs to be part of the "Collection" set.

The Phantom covers are a toss-up between the last two for me.  The first one (lovely on its own) looks too washed-out next to them. Can't decide between the Blue or Black spine.

Keep up the great work.

Too bad you don't have the original painting for PHANTOM.

I even emailed universalclips.com asking if I could please use the image for use on my DVD cover. They said 'legal and business considerations prevent us from accepting your request'. Oh please. I'm only asking for a picture not a million dollars!

You shouldn't have said "DVD cover". They'll think you're going to sell something. Although the answer would probably have been the same, no matter what you said.

Probably. A year or two ago I tried getting the Frankenstein artwork for a presentation which they said would be alright however I guess they were under the notion I already had it since I never got it. However even if they approve I think you have to pay a license fee of like $500!

Yesterday I was able to email one of Universal's marketing guys and asked if these artworks would ever be used for anything again in the future. In an earlier message he requested that I not use his name but here's what he had to say.

At this time, there are no plans to re-use this art at all.  We've got 3 main looks we've been using...original posters, black & white (with red titles) and the new legacy collections (which is my personal favorite of all the art we've done on these). We also have some limited edition "glow in the dark" art that will be exclusively at Walmart starting tomorrow through Halloween.

It's good to hear that feedback on the VHS art. I'll take that into consideration next time we revisit these. Thanks!

Walmart - "glow-in-the dark".

Something else for the completist to look out for.

Is that  on a DVD? I'm gonna check out WM for GITD monster stuff.

The glow-in-the-dark thing is new slipcovers for the individual "big 8" DVDs and Blu-rays. The ones with the b/w photo covers. The slip covers are black with GITD art.

I wonder how many fans will buy the new slipcover, thinking they are getting something new inside - like additional extras and the like.

Just more ways to buy the same old thing.

Who knows? The back of the slip is the same as the back of the plastic case. All you have to do is read! :)

I bought a CREATURE DVD. The front looked a little better than the Blu.
