More displays!

These could almost be from the 60s-80s!  That good 'ol Child's Play mix.

*If someone knows how to rotate the sideways pics, please do.  I tried.

I do enjoy the recent 12" dangling skeletons, especially at just five bucks.  (I've seen them for $3.)  They've been adding new outfits/characters each year.  They aren't the weightless blow mold guys from the dollar store, but more of a hard resin articulated with metal rods.  Basically like marionettes.

This particular store offered standard skeleton, gentleman hillbilly, Sam Hain, and two I haven't often seen -- teal & red haired mermaids.    8)

Can't be done from here. It needs to be done in your photo editor before uploading it to your web space.

Strangely enough, when I save the pics and look at them in my editor (Irfanview), they are correctly oriented. And when I uploaded to my space without altering, they are likewise correct.

Yeah man, my wife was having the same trouble and she works for Apple, ffs.  ha   When we look at them on the desktop, they are perfectly straight and level!  The 'Tinypic' place seems to be reorienting them in the process for whatever reason.  Weird, for sure.

Thanks just the same for trying, though....I saw where you'd edited and was wondering why they were still off kilter, heh.

That's possible! When you upload an image, look around to see if there is anything to uncheck that is screwing with your picks. "Automatically orient photo lengthwise", or some kinda crap like that.

I posted those 3 picks to ImageShack and edited the message.

Wait, where is the Frank glass from?

Dr. Acula

Today's mail brought some monster goodies:

a complete set of glow-in-the-dark MPC monsters.

I had some of these as a kid but not a complete set, nor did I have the glow-in-the-dark variety. I had some that were black ... and maybe some that were orange? I can't remember. In any case, they are long since lost. So I was happy to get this complete set in excellent condition for around $25 (including shipping).

Today I also received a couple of Rubies vacuform monster masks (which I have augmented with ping pong ball eyes).

I have been collecting these lately, as I think they will make great Halloween decorations. They are not as garish as the dime-store masks from my childhood (which would be cool and nostalgic), but I like their look. I also have a Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, and Dracula. I think the only one I'm missing now is the Creature. I'm planning on getting some better eyes for them (these are just what I was able to find at Walmart), though I'm not sure if I prefer them with or without the eyes.

Great deal on the set of glow MPC Weirds. Most sellers want $10-$15 each for them. Congrats!

Yeah, the colors of the originals from the '60s were green, purple (2 shades), orange (2 shades), black, and red. The red ones only came with the Monster Checkers set so those are much more scarce. The green glow-in-the-dark ones came out in the '70s/'80s and some non-glow light green repops came out in the '90s. As far as I know the molds haven't been used since then.

Just in case I'm not the only one here with an interest in Transformers as well:

Walmart has worked an exclusive with Hasbro to re-release original Generation 1 (G1) Transformers! Hasbro has reissued these toys before, but this is the first time they come in reproduction original boxes AND all the box art! From the character art to the awesome cosmic space battles on the back! They're a thing of beauty!  Here's a link to more pictures and the first wave of figures: http://news.tfw2005.com/2018/07/18/walmart-exclusive-g1-reissues-stock-photos-and-release-date-368083

Fans have been looking forward to these since July, but I was caught totally unaware while prowling walmart.  Truly glorious.

I'm a fellow Transformers fan as well. I was able to nab Starscream and Hot Rod through the website about a month ago which is good because I still haven't seen them on the shelves. While I'd love to have the Devastator, it's just too pricey for me right now.

Oh yeah I totally agree, the price on Devastator is just sheer greed capitalizing on nostalgia.  I saw somewhere that the Minibots are priced at around $5 each.  Considering that the 6 Constructicons that make up Devastator are in the same scale, that's $30 in toys.  Then figure allowing another $10-15 for the great box and packaging, and they're asking double what he is actually worth.  That, and all these molds are older than I am - they've had 34 years to make their money off them.  Besides, I picked up a complete KO set for $12 a couple years ago...  Same molds, same stuff, same amount of plastic, yet more than 6x the markup.  And yet the TF fans are going crazy over it.

$80 is getting into Masterpiece money, the polar opposite of G1 Devastator quality.  Save that money and put it towards the Jinbao Oversized Devastator that will be complete in another month.  ;)

I even had a little conflict getting Hot Rod and Starscream at their price, but I do remember having 'Rod and I never did have a Starscream when I was little.

Got some stuff in the mail today (except for the Frank head):

Got the Monster Crunch! game, Army Boots Frankie, and apothecary jar (for free shipping) from Target. The Mani-Yack Creature Enamel Pin rolled in from an eBay seller. I picked up the 3D printed Frank head w/brain from an eBay seller not long ago and decided to include it in the pic for the halibut. BTW, that Creature Pin is very nice, and has some weight to it.

My split the Monster crunch game with my brother a few weeks back.  We'd been waiting for it.  There's not much to it, but it's fun and quick.

Here is a picture of the full set of Halloween Lawn Stakes:

...

I stumbled across this variant set of the Lawn Stakes / Yardstakes on eBay:

Never seen these before.

I like the substitution of the Devil for the Ghost.  The box is printed in both English and French, so I am guessing this set was sold in Canada.  (Our south would not be as big a fan of having a glowing Satan on their lawns.)

I am also guessing these were made after 1994 - since that is when Walmart bought out some distressed Canadian Woolco stores from the Woolworth company.

I didn't buy these because the seller wants $99.00 for the set, and I would be interested in just the one figure.
