QuoteCheck out the new pics from NY. The Creature is super-poseable but looks a little like the Toy Island one. The Sideshow 8" is less poseable but better sculpted (and more realistically painted, IMO).

True, but you still want it, right??  :o

Thanks, jimm.

The SOF is indeed odd.  Maybe it's the angle.  The Creature and the Hallmark ornament are amazing, though.

I like the Son of Frankie. Its definitely much improved over the first DST Frankenstein.  It sucks that we wont be seeing others. Everytime I think of that original concept Van helsing getting manufactured instead of Werewolf of london, Kharis, or any of the other great Universal Monsters, however, it makes me disgusted. :'(

It's not that skinny!

It's also weird that the tombstone on the base of the Faux Helsing says "Harker."  It should say Westenra...  unless Jonathan had a forgotten sister?  The positioning of the figure on that base is also questionable...    :o

Really? What do you like about SoF ? It's a pretty lame sculpt (I don't see Karloff at all). The base is nice, but I'd rather stick the great-looking Sideshow version on it. I'm glad we got what we got, but I'm done. And, yeah, I feel the same way about the Van Helsing taking the place of a real Universal character (especially on the final wave).

I clicked that link and the first thing I saw was Coffin Joe's face. I thought, wow! Coffin Joe toys! Awesome! Then I realized the picture had nothing to do with the toy reviews. Rrrgh. Talk about getting my hopes up, then crashing them to the ground!

The SOF actually looks like a pretty decent Frankenstein figure. Just not a Karloff likeness Frankenstein figure. The Sideshow version is superior.
Creature is cute, probably better than the previous Diamond one, though not dramatically so. The prototype compares favorably to the Sideshow figure. Though I think the definitive Creature figure has yet to be made in this format.
The Hallmark ornament looks cool, but I don't collect those.

Ray, I believe your best hope is with our friends from the far east, DD. MegoScale anyone?

That's what I was thinking.  I'm not sure what happened.

I'm pretty sure they still have the rights to Karloff. I just think that the sculptor who did this one wasn't as gifted as some of the others. That's another reason I'm glad the line is over. I keep buying inferior versions of the same figures Sideshow already perfected. There is no reason this figure shouldn't look like Karloff. The Creature is cool, but the mouth looks too small and the head too round. I'm still buying them, but only because I'm an idiot completest. Now that Hallmark is doing Universal monster figural ornaments, we might get a Creature in the second wave (the Frankenstein is great).
