The Phantom is easily the best, followed by Creature and Mutant. I like the Mummy, but would have preferred Kharis. Bride is good enough. Nothing amazing about her. Dracula is not bad for a generic version of the Universal character, but of course I would prefer a Lugosi version. Frankenstein and Wolfman are cute toys, but pretty weak in terms of capturing the movie characters. I don't see any actor likeness in either figure. I think Frank is trying to be the Glenn Strange version, but the face only vaguely resembles Strange. Wolfman looks nothing like Chaney. He's a cute wolfy with his pointy ears and upturned face, but he's not Chaney.

Is it me? Or does this retro Frankenstein's monster look like the Kenner/Hasbro '99  Frankenstein's monster?

Actually the Hasbro one is based on Karloff. The sculpt is adequate, but the blue eye shadow and bright red lips make him look like a hooker. The huge hands are ridiculous, too. I think the DST retro is much closer to Glenn Strange.

Ray is right about the figures not looking like the movie monsters, but I still love the character that they have.  Better paint and outfit colors would have easily made them superior.  In fact, I ditched Frank's green coat in favor of a brown one.  I remember the original concepts.  Those were amazing.  For the finished figures, I like the Wolf Man's claws, and I like the fact that Frank looks less like Karloff and more like Strange (which is why I thought King's comment about DST not wanting to do a Strange Frankenstein was odd).  I remember when this line was just getting started.  It's hard to believe that it's over now...  Just when it was getting great...

May be they would have lasted longer if they had started out great. People would have been behind them from the start rather than playing catch-up when they improved.

Gasport

My faves are the Franky, Wolfie, Creech, Phantom and Mutant. You can see more of Glenn Strange if you under light the face. Would have been cool if they used the Aurora kit Wolf Man head sculpt, but what the hell? These things are supposed to be abstract. Therein lies the charm!

Good point! It's not like DST was a new toy company, just starting out. They've been around awhile now. It isn't their first walk around the block.

Tuff to say, once the main characters get done, not sure the tru's of the world want to stay on board. The way this last wave of retro and regular figs seem to be flying off the shelf too bad we can't get 1 more wave of retro. Hyde and either Quasi or Moleman would have been nice.

I'm not a fan of the Invisible Man. But, why wasn't a Retro figure made?
