I've seen the uncut version of Dead Alive numerous times, but was wondering if, aside from the title, there were any differences in the films?  I've heard Braindead is supposed to be gorier, even though the uncut version of Dead Alive is pretty damn gory.

My nephew bought a vhs copy of BRAINDEAD from Blackest Heart Video back in the 90's.  We had already seen DEAD ALIVE several times.  If I recall correctly, BRAINDEAD did include some extra gore scenes, but to be honest, I can't remember what was added.  It was hard to catch them because DEAD ALIVE is already such an insane splatterfest!
" Perhaps he dimly wonders why, there is no other such as I. "

The film has a running time of 103 minutes, as from what I have read, most of the DVD releases on the film (the Blu included), they have been cut to 97 minutes/

I prefer THIS release, It has the uncensored release with the 104 minutes/ released as braindead, cooler title

Are there extra scenes, extended scenes?  What makes up for the additional time?

Here's a great write up (and screen comparisons) http://www.movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=164848

Thank you :)  I found this pretty interesting: "Although the 104-minute version remains the most commonly seen (at least outside the U.S.), Jackson has gone on record as saying the 97-minute cut is his preferred version."

Hopefully Peter Jackson will release an ultimate version  (similar to the Evil Dead or Dawn of the Dead box sets) with the different cuts of the film.

A cool write-up, I have checked-out other films too

www.dvduncut.com/ IS a good site for getting uncut dvds If you into buying stuff from foreign sites, you'll have to translate the site tho/
I think this IS a decent dvd of the 104-minute version

I just got my hands on the Blood Edition of Braindead.  Haven't had a chance to watch the whole thing, so I can't compare the two quite yet.
