Rock / Pop Album Trivia (Hope y'all haven't already done this?)

Something I always found interesting, was when an album's title song doesn't appear on that album, but is released later (or even earlier) on another album, single, compilation, etc.  If you wanna play, name the album and where the title song appeared. Add any other details you care to. Since there probably aren't all that many of these, only post one per day (to give others a chance to play).

Iron Butterfly's bassist Lee Dorman died yesterday, so I'll dedicate my choice to him (though he doesn't play on this song).

After a 4 year absence, Iron Butterfly reformed (in 1975) with the album Scorching Beauty, however, the title song appears on the following (and last studio) LP Sun and Steel.

Mike, great thread.

Led Zeppelin's Houses off the Holly does not appear on the LP Houses of the Holy. The song is featured on their sixth studio LP Physical Graffiti.

"They come from the bowels of hell; a transformed race of walking dead. Zombies, guided by a master plan for complete domination of the Earth."

Indeed it does not! I knew we'd see this one fairly quickly.  :)

Safe as Milk is the 1967 debut album by Captain Beefheart & his Magic Band.
The song Safe As Milk shows up on the album Strictly Personal in '68.

Thanks, Worm! That's a new (or, at least long forgot) one on me!

The clue I gave earlier, was for THE DOORS. There album "Waiting for the Sun" did not include the title song, which turned up two albums later on "Morrison Hotel".

Only 2 of you have an example? OK, I'll post another.

Queen's "Sheer Heart Attack" did not make the album of the same name, but was featured three albums later on "News of the World".

I'm gonna run out of these 'fore long!

Emerson, Lake & Palmer's song "Brain Salad Surgery" did not make the final cut of the album. It was released on a promo only flexi-disc (below), at the same time, but didn't turn up on a commercial disc till 3 years later when it was issued as the "B" side of the "Fanfare for the Common Man" single from the album "Works V1". BSS was next released on the "leftovers" album "Works V2" a year later.

You beat me to it. i was going to say the doors when i first seen this first. i think the "waiting for the sun" is the best example.
I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me.

Although I don't have a picture to post of White Zombie's LPs, my example is:
White Zombie's: Soul Crusher. The song does not appear on the album.
The song Soul Crusher, however does appear later on their third studio LP:
La Sexorcisto: Devil music, vol. 1. Maybe I can locate a video to coincide
with song(s) and LPs?
