Monsters For Sale

...Yeah it really was my Dad that started me out collecting stuff and building kits and watching monster movies. Some of my earliest and best monsterkid memories of of Pop taking me to the drive-in or theater to see what was then (late 70s) latest monster flicks (Kong 76, Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger, the late 70s Godzilla releases, the Amicus/AIP Burroughs Pellucider flicks) and going to Hobby shops. He's going to be 64 in November and is finally retiring this summer, and he's already planning a big model railroad layout he is going to build after!

You should make him a scale haunted house for the layout.  You could give it to him for his birthday or Christmas.  Something like the Bates Mansion would be nice.

WOW, that is quite a find for that price. I'm with the others here, I NEVER see anything like this at garage sales. It's almost all raggy clothes and Happy Meal toys. I've never seen the tombstone with the three ghosts. VERY nice. I love me some blowmolds.

Those are beautiful! How much did they set you back?

They were $1.00 each, so 11 bucks.   But I had a coupon, so they ended up being $8.00.  tynhrt

Believe it or not; those vhs boxes have become collectible. Kind of like the 8mm boxes of the 60's. There appears to be an entire "hipster" style movement to make "vhs tapes vs. dvds" the equivalent of "vinyl records vs. cds". Get em while they are cheap I guess, lol.

I'm trying to get a number of horror titles (1920s-1980s) on VHS.  Usually I can pick up one a week, but this...  I have not picked up a Classic Collection VHS in a few years as they are so rare.  I still need a number of them, and this helped a great deal!  I went back today to see if they put out anymore.  They didn't have any.  Plus, the horror titles I passed on were all gone.  Get 'em while you can is right!

All of the above.  It's nice to be able to get out and hunt for something that is both cheap and tangible.  The last time I found a Classic Collection VHS was about two years ago.  It was the Rains Phantom of the Opera.  These just don't show up too often.  Needless to say, I was thrilled with this find.

Has he considered a garden railroad in 1/29 scale?

???

Collecting! It's what I do!

That is a fantastic idea MFS!

Got these little guys today as a birthday present from my bosses! I love how cute Godzilla is! They are about 2 inches tall-it is the new Godzilla (he isn't quite this adorable in the movie) and the female MUTO.

Kind of a nice array of figures found at an Estate sale. Clockwise from the left we have a 90s Mars Attacks saucer with pilot (the lights/sound of this toy may be busted, whatever. Might be cool hanging from the ceiling. A Jurassic Park rubber T-Rex, very nicely made figure. A Skeletor with staff (he is inside a ceramic jaguar bowl that I also got). A trio of 70s Star Wars figures (any value to these? Not a SW collector). A little rubber figure who I think is supposed to be Carnage from Spider-Man, maybe a fast food toy? Finally an unknown humanoid praying mantis thing, any idea what line he might come from? A lot of detail, pretty interesting looking character. I don't think he's Star Wars, but maybe?

Dr_tongues_toys

I think the mantis figure is from the Swamp Thing line. Part of the Trans-Mutation play set?

Howdy Everyone! I found this wonderful website while doing some research on a recent find.
I came across this guy at a local auction and decided to take a chance on him. He had the look of a 1960's bobblehead and even though he had some significant damage to the back of his head, he was still very displayable (with a good chance of being repaired.)
When I got him home and tried doing some research on him, the only thing I could find was a short conversation about an ebay auction for a 1960's Wolfman bobblehead that was posted here back in 2008. There were no pictures and obviously the ebay auction is long gone.

I'm guessing that this is a similar bobblehead to the one being discussed. Any information as to manufacturer and year made would be appreciated!

A little about me- I was a child of the late 60's and am now collecting items that I had when I was a kid or would have had if I'd known about them or at least had some money. This is a very dangerous website for me, because even though I do have a bit more money than when I was a kid, I don't have enough money to buy all the cool things that I see here!

Welcome to the UMA, Flotsam!

The examples we have of those say 1962. There are pics of a Frankenstein, Wolfman and Phantom in "Media" http://www.universalmonsterarmy.com/forum/index.php?action=media

Somebody should be able to tell you something more about them. Monster Bob owns the ones pictured.

Thanks for the welcome Mike!
So if this is the same bobblehead that was in the ebay auction back in 2008, I'm guessing it's worth a bit more than what I paid for it (The bidding stayed in the single digits!) Now I have to decide if I want to keep it or sell it and buy the things I really want with the profit! The dilemma of finding really cool things that turn out to be really valuable!

Tommyregan

that's a great find and a rarity in any condition , I would leave him as is.
