LOL-Pringles rock man! And that is indeed Gappa next to Ghidorah on my desk. It's a reissue of a 60s 12 inch kit.

I hope so Mark-according the post office website he should get his package tomorrow. I'm super thrilled with the trade-I have wanted most of these kits for years and didn't think i'd ever find them affordably. Trading rocks! Of course now I can not find my modeling supplies! I know I was out of superglue before we moved and I did find my X-acto knives and some paint, but the rest of the stuff is AWOL! :o

Cecil the seasick sea serpent.....monster? Yea, I guess so, but also the big sweet buddy to Beany. I was stoked to get this Cecil Bowling Set. It is from 1962.  The Cecils were so filthy that there was a question whether they could come clean. They did. And the box was terribly warped and messed up. The wife thought I was crazy when she caught me floating all the Cecils in the tub while scrubbing them. The very large box was an interesting challenge.....I slit the glued seams so it would lay somewhat flat. Then I lightly sprayed the backside with water and ironed the cardboard. Worked fantastic! Here is the end result. I love it! .........Marx Franky is for size perspective.......

Monsters For Sale

I remember watching Cecil the six leg, seasick sea serpent!  (Yes, I'm that old.)

Beany and Cecil made a personal appearance at my elementary school.

I wish you had taken a before picture of the bowling set, so we could see the improvement.

Very cool find!!!

Yea Hep! When something cool like the bowling set appears I'm struck by how many cool collectibles are out there that I've never seen before and never knew existed.

Didn't Beany and Cecil have a remake in the early to mid 80's?  I swear I used to see this on Saturday mornings as a kid and I doubt it was the original series.

That is really cool! Good find buddy! It looks amazing, hard to believe it was in such rough condition before. Good job on the restoration!
Mirabile dictu,don't you agree?

Way to go Bud, that bowling set is cool !!

Thanks guys! I agonized over wetting and ironing the box's cardboard. I'd been thinking of trying that for sometime. Also wonder if a clothing steamer might also help to flatten box cardboard.  I also had great success with Elmer's wood glue gently embedded in both sides of several cardboard separations on this box. Used a toothpick to work glue into the loose fibers. Worked great!

Cecil the seasick sea serpent.

Wow!

Okay, this might take some explaining.

Here are my brothers and I wearing our "Cecils": 1973-vintage terry-towelling beach hats:

A running gag in my family. Our reasoning: these hats were obviously not "Beanies", but if they had propellers, they'd look like a bit like Beany's hat. So they are "Cecils".

Then, recently, we did this:

Early to mid eighties? Hmmmmmm. A puppet show called "Time for Beany" first aired in 1949. Beany & Cecil cartoons first appeared on "Matty's Funday Funnies" in 1959 and ran until June 1962. Another season of cartoons was produced in 1988.

Oh, Okay. So I was off somewhat. It was late 80's. I knew I remembered seeing it at some point in the 80s. It was pretty good as I recall. Thanks :)
