They are 2001 Yanoman figues.  They were sold in Japan only.

They would be sold "blind" in sealed boxes, like trading cards.  They buyers would then trade them in search of a complete set.  They also had some chase figures in each series.

these  are pretty sweet

Would love those Yanoman for Monster Cafe.

They are very tiny.  Only about 3 inches tall.

There is a full color set, a black & white set, and one piece that glows in the dark - The Mutant.

The 380 Yen price was equal to about $3.50 US in 2001.

The Yanomans are great, especially when you find them for a good price.     There was a set of figures similar to these from Japan a few years earlier that were terrible looking.

Morning, noon, or night, Anytime . . . . the count may strike. If you're caught you have to linger, Cause Dracula may bite your finger!

Wow, I have never seen the Yanomans before. I would love to get my hands on some of those. Any idea what sort of price they typically command?

I haven't shopped these in a long time.  But I think these prices seem about right:

Here is the front of a box from the other figures set:

Here are the side panels showing the figures from that issue:

Note that the sculpts are more crude.  These were cast in one solid piece.  The legs weren't even separate.

The later series from the other box, were intricate enough to be cast in several pieces.  They had to be assembled by the collector.  They just plugged together with no glue required.

There was also a series of Universal Monsters trading cards that were issued in the same way.  Here is a copy of the front and back of that box.  You can see some of the card artwork on the back:

By-the-way:  These were issued by a candy company.  The boxes also contained some candy and information sheets about the figures/cards.

Makes me wish I had a friend in Japan.

Re: the Yanoman figures. They are beautiful little sculpts. I populate my LeMax Spooky Town display with them every Halloween.

I absolutely love The Gallery of Monster Toys. Its pretty much been my education in the matter.

Had no idea he was on here, that's cool.

Thats who I got my set from.  At that price they are a steal, I love the Japanese stuff, so I jump on the right away.   Surprised he still has any.   It wasn't all that long ago these sold for $100+ a set, and you'd could only find the B+W versions.   I highly recommend these to anyone.   They are very, very cool in person.   Like mini DST or Sideshow figs, the sculpts for such a small scale are tremendous, especially on the mutant and creature.

When these first got well known in the U.S. market the price went through the roof.  The Glow-In-the-Dark Mutant alone was selling for $59.95.

It took a long time for the market to settle down on these little guys.

I was very lucky to get mine before they were all that well known and for an especially nice price.

I really like they way they look framed with the advertising card.  Very creative display of three nice items.
