Not that there wasn't interest before or after, but the 1970s were the peak of interest in Bigfoot, the Yeti, the Bermuda Triangle, UFOs, the Loch Ness Monster, etc.  It was a great time to be a kid.

Man Rob, I was OBSESSED with ALL that stuff back then. But of course now, I'm far too mature for all that sort of thing.  :o
We're all here because we're not all there.

Sadly, my memories of "Chariots of the Gods" compromise of a school trip on the train to a cinema - and my younger brother taking his whoopi cushion with him. Once was hilarious, twice was funny, fifteen times was eviction by the usher. Led him out of the darkened cinema by his earlobe.

I'm up in Seattle at the Emerald City Comic Con and happened to wander across a copy of Warren's 1978 House of Horror, one of the rarer monster mags they did. Can't get pics up right now, but here's a link to Mike Scott's great Monster Magazine Blog (thanks Mike).

Anyway, I've had a couple of chances to buy it over the years - including a perfect copy that came in when I managed a store years ago that I couldn't financially justify not selling at retail vs. my discount - but never one in my price range. I got very, very lucky, and this one was quite cheap for its condition (like high 8 or even a 9). So yay! I found a cool monster mag!

Yesterday was a double whammy! Another Kansas City Toy Show (last one was TRAIN and toy show) and a toy auction. What was so cool was that both were within 2 blocks of each other. First pics are of a truly cool find! This is a Mattel 1969 Kozmic Kiddle named Blue Blooey (I think). What is special is that he has his spaceship, spaceship clear dome, original base, and original hang tag. Most of the Kiddles were small girl doll thingies. The short series of Kosmic Kiddles combined space and small aliens. May not seem like much, but this is now one of the highlights of my collection! Never thought I's find a Kozmic in such time-machine condition!  Buddy

Bigbud---That's a nice Kozmic Kiddle, it's in great shape. They are great 1960's toys with colorful designs. I have one of them but I don't have his ship. I also have a Little Kiddles View Master set that has the Kozmic Kiddles on it. Here's a pic of it...

Cool stuff...never even heard of them!

Bud, That's an amazing find! I've never seen the hang tag. Here's a cool discussion about 'em on he Mego board where Brian mentions his dad wholesaled 'em back when:

Monolith, Never knew there was a Viewmaster set either, thanks!

A teenaged girl I used to tutor in the 70s had "Liddle Kiddles" paper dolls (two boys, six girls?) from her childhood. She had lost two of the girl dolls, but remembered the characters had certain hair colours. I helped her customize two new paper dolls using the posed paper clothes to create the torsos and we extrapolated heads and faces from the other. How cool that there were glow-in-the-dark aliens to interact with them!

Didn't the creator of "Kooky Spookys" specifically mention "Liddle Kiddle" paper dolls as inspiration for the never-released dressed paper/vinyl ghost dolls that eventually became the "Kooky Spookys"?

That Kiddle is an amazing find!  Congratulations, Big Bud.  I love those things, and I have never come across one with a tag like that.

Darkmonkeygod, thanks for the Mego link! There were several Megos at the toy auction this weekend. Conan, Thor, Falcon, Ironman, Spiderman, Cap Am, Lizard. The Conan was missing his axe and Thor was missing his hammer. Went high, in my opinion, $100 or so each.

The pics are of the rest of my weekend haul. Always wanted the Mattel Talking Beany. May seem odd, but I like the box as much as the doll. Also a Sears exclusive Dennis the Menace, Hasbro Popeye colored pencil set (thing is 17" long!), '58 Hawk Project Vanguard Satellite model kit, Parks machine pistol, Silly Surfer and Weird-o records (in ruff shape, but hopefully worth a listen), a rubbery skeleton novelty piece, the 3 piece Haunted Haulers set from Matchbox and a gray/silver robot like figure that maybe someone can help me id......he is next to Dennis in the group shot........Buddy

Nice haul, Bud. Beany has a certain Chucky-like charm to him! Neat old satellite kit too...

My weekly finds came from my own storage shed. I went digging last week and found some goodies I had put back for some time.My 1989 Maxx FM Freddy Krueger, a toy replica Freddy Glove and my 12 inch talking Cryptkeeper in tuxedo.

ChrisW

Bigbud - is Beany still talking?
I remember having a suprising amount of Beanie and Cecil licensed product as a kid. A talking Cecil puppet, Colorforms, the Jumping Dishonest John Game, and the incredibly desirable Beanie-copter!

I'm sure I imagined it would work ala Calvin's Chocolate Bomb Beanie Copter...

...but probably I just ended up looking like a dorkasaurus.
