Only a few months ago, I saw reference (online) to a character that once appeared on "The Smurfs": a Grandpa character, who had returned from a 500 year exile (and was then never seen again). I'd never even seen a pic of him before - but yesterday, at a local market, I noticed some "Smurf" bootleg twinpacks. They had some versions in piles, but one lone twin pack contained (with Archer Smurf), one poorly-painted figure wearing a long beard (now repainted by me), and a gold cap and overalls! I had just found Grandpa Smurf!

This may be a minor find at best, but I was pretty happy to get it:

This is a plastic one gallon bucket with a thin metal handle.  It was made by Shamrock Industries in "Mpls., Minn".  It is artist signed on the pumkin under the large bat, by "Kling", with a circle dotting the letter "i".  There is no date on the bucket - but the way the state is abbreviated suggests it was not made recently.

I bought it because it had a nice Frankenstein graphic plus almost all of the iconic Halloween images.  There is Frank, a full moon with flying bats, a rat, dead trees, a Mummy, a ghost, a large bat, 2 pumpkins, a spooky-faced tree with an owl, a witch pouring the contents of a beaker into her boiling caulron and another dead tree.  All on a nice Halloween-orange background.  Sadly, there is not an arched-backed black cat or a carved jack-o'-lantern.

The plastic bucket is 6.75 inches high (not including handle) by 8 inches in diameter.

I asked the seller if this bucket was sold as is, or if it had been sold with a lid and filled with Halloween cookies, etc.  She thought she remembered it being sold as is.  I have my doubts.

But I do know I love my little "find".

Looks cool, Adam.  There are no minor finds.  I would have picked these up too.

It's just one bucket.  I photographed all 4 sides.

I love that Halloween bucket. There's something about the picket fence, the wild grass, the bare trees and the orange autumn sky amid the spooks and monsters that really jars a feeling in me that recalls my childhood Halloween adventures. It seems to capture perfectly that magical twilight hour when trick-or-treating begins and worlds of the mundane and the fantastical are the closest.

Long live the UMA!

GAKENSTEIN

Putting that one on my bucket list!

Yeah.

All I could think of was, I wondered if they also made Halloween masks and really irritating commercials to the tune of "London Bridge Is Falling Down".
